Red Dirt Raceway
Championship Night RESULTS
Our last Friday night points race of the season was a dandy as our racers continue to put on steller shows! Every once in awhile I get to sit back for a few minutes and watch a race...Last night I did that a few times and it amazes me how good our drivers are and how good the racing is on a regular basis at Red Dirt Raceway - Meeker, OK! I have said it before and here it goes again------> I think we have(and getting better/tougher) the best crop of drivers and the toughest weekly show in this part of the country! Two, three, and four wide racing in EVERY class....I am damn proud to be associated with you guys!
Heat races were fast and furious with Shawn Brownlee, Mark Mullins, and Johnathan Jarvis picking up Pure Stock heat wins while Paul York(Dwarf Cars) and Adrian Rodriguez(Hornets) secured heat wins in their classes. Rob Bland and Todd Decker aced the Sport Mod heats while Brett Wilson, Michael Deuce Tyre II, and Cameron Hagin topped the Sprint Car heats.....INTERMISSION was very cool as we had a driver "meet and greet" on the front straightaway with overwhelming participation from both drivers and fans! We also had our very first MARRIAGE PROPOSAL at the track which was awesome!
Feature action saw 2018 Red Dirt Raceway Pure Stock Champion put icing on the cake as Scott "Donald" Wilson grabbed the main event win after a spectacular race with Justin McBride, Johnathan Jarvis, Ben Lewis and others for the duration of the race!
The Dwarf main event was won by Jason Miles after a very good race.
The main event with the Sport Mods was one of the best races I've seen in a long time as there was two and three wide racing from the initial start to the drop of the checkered! Long time race leader Todd Decker was victim to unfortunate fate as he found himself out of shape and eventually stopped on the track after the slightest of contact from eventual winner Rob Bland entering the high side of turn one with just a few laps remaining. Bland was able to hang on for the win over the final few laps while Logan Martin and a hard charging Jeffrey Kaup rounded out the podium.
The Hornet cars continue to impress as they are putting on some of the best racing of the night, but the guys will have to keep digging for speed as Stephanie Chapa claimed her third win of the season and then gave her winning trophy to a very happy young fan!
The USAC Wingless Sprints Oklahoma Red Dirt Rumble Championship was a great race as these daredevils tempted fate by cleaning the red clay from the concrete wall on the outside of turns 3&4 for twenty five laps! After some very tight battles through traffic it was the "Old Man" Danny Smith taking his Orange Taxi to the Red Dirt Raceway Winners Circle over "Hot Rod" Johnny Kent and Cameron Hagin! Brett Wilson was able to recover from involvement from an early accident and fight his way back to a tenth place finish which was just good enough to secure the USAC Wingless Sprints of Oklahoma Season Championship!
Please share....More info coming shortly!!!
Next race: Tomorrow, Oct 7th at 4:00 is our 2nd Annual Salute to State Fair Speedway with the Oil Capital Racing Series, TOPLESS Sport Mods, Non-Wing Micros, and Vintage Cars. We also have a Vintage Car Show in the tailgate area beginning at 2:00. NOTE---We are monitoring the weather and will post updates when they become available....
