Ferguson wires Bristol Dirt Nationals opener, earns $10,000
Chris Ferguson invaded the famed Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon to kick off the two-day Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals. Drawing 55 Late Models, Ferguson laid down the fastest lap in his time trial group before picking up an eight-lap heat race victory. Earning the pole position for the opening night feature, Chris shot into the lead on the opening lap and never looked back, leading flag-to-flag in the 25-lap affair to capture his first win of the season and a $10,000 prize. On Saturday afternoon, Chris followed up the fastest lap in field of 49 cars with a heat race win over Bobby Pierce. Locked into the pole for the $50,000-to-win Bristol Dirt Nationals finale, Ferguson paced the field for the first 10 circuits until Kyle Larson snuck by on the 11th lap. Fading outside the Top-5 late in the 50-lapper, Chris Ferguson landed a seventh-place finish when the checkered flag flew.
