LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION NIGHT KICKS OFF A BUSY MONTH AT THE CAN-AM SPEEDWAY
With the 2019 racing season entering it’s last full month, the
Can-Am Speedway is not ready to slow down. This Friday, August 2nd,
will get the month started when Can-Am will honor the great men and
women of Law Enforcement. All those from Law Enforcement, from both
sides of the border, will be admitted free to the grandstands with
proper ID. Track owner Tyler Bartlett said " these brave men and
women are the ones that keep us safe throughout the year and we are
honored to be able to give them a night at the races. All four weekly
classes will be in action with a complete program of heats and feature
events. The following week is one of the most entertaining nights of
the year when the Empire Super Sprints invade the fast 1/2 mile for
their second visit of 2019. The winged sprinters turn the clay oval
at speeds over 100 MPH and thrill the fans every time they make the
trip to LaFargeville. Joining the Empire Super Sprints will be all
four of Can-Am's weekly divisions, making this a must see show for
both the avid and casual race fan. The month of August continues with
another special night of racing on the 16th, when Can-Am presents it's
annual Family Autograph night and Backpack Giveaway Program. Family
Autograph Night is always a fan favorite and last year, Speedway
management added it's first ever Backpack Giveaway. Racers, sponsors
and fans exceeded all expectations by donating over 250 backpacks to
giveaway to all the kids in attendance. A portion of each general
admission ticket purchased will be donated to the Children's Miracle
Network to help out thier great organization here in Jefferson County.
Some other exciting news is in the planning stages for this event and
will be announced shortly. The following Friday night, Can-Am will
honor all those in the educational field. All teachers, aides and
those working in education will be admitted free in appreciation for
their great work and a little thank you as they get ready to get back
to work for a new school year. Can-Am will close out the month on
August 30th with Firefighter Appreciation Night. Last years event was
an overwhelming success with Fire Departments from throughout the area
participating in a parade of Fire Trucks around the speedway during
intermission. Departments will have their equipment on display behind
the main grandstands for everyone to get a close up look at. It will
also be the final points night of the season and our Track Champions
will be crowned. Make plans to stop out to the Can-Am Speedway and
take in one of our exciting August specials. Follow us on Facebook at
