Can-Am Speedway
First ever DIRTcar 358 checkered flag to Taylor Caprara at Can Am

It had been a long time but finally all six divisions were back on hand on the same night at the Can Am Speedway this past Friday night. Many of the top drivers found victory lane yet again in their respective division, however one driver made a long time dream into a reality.
The Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman were set to go for a 12 lap contest and Owen Nier grabbed the lead heading into turn one, but things took a bad turn behind him. Entering turn one, last weeks winner Joe Tricilo clipped the back end of Keegan Nier, sending him up and over. The race was red flagged, but Tricilo was able to climb out uninjured, but the car was completely destroyed. The race went to green for a second time and Owen Nier grabbed the lead but four-time winner, Paul DeRuyter had moved to second, with Keegan Nier third. Owen Nier appeared to be on his way to an easy win but Paul DeRuyter was on the charge as he took a shot at the lead many times. At the finish Owen Nier would hold on for win number three of the year, over DeRuyter, Keegan Nier, Cole Perry and Tim Bailey.
Trevor Gibbons was looking to grab his first ever Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTcar Sportsman win as he led early in the 20-lap affair, over Dustin Hutton and Tyler Stevenson. Gibbons was fast early but Dustin Hutton showed his muscle on a lap 5 restart. He took the lead with Stevenson, Jonathan Murphy, Jessica Power and Gibbons close behind. With Hutton in front, Tyler Stevenson started to go to work as he closed in for the top spot while behind him, Jessica Power was running third but Mike Fowler and Tyler Corcoran were on the charge. Both drivers would get by Power for third and fourth, and tried to run down the leaders. On lap 14 Stevenson would get the advantage he wanted as he took the top spot from Dustin Hutton, using the high lane in turn four. From there Tyler Stevenson put the car on auto-pilot as he cruised to his third win of the season. Dustin Hutton had his best finish of the year coming across second over Mike Fowler, Tyler Corcoran and Jessica Power.
In Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTcar 358 Modified action RJ Tressider led early but Tyler Meeks had other plans. Meeks would take his new Bicknell car to the lead on lap 4 of the 25-lap event, Tressider, Preston Forbes, Taylor Caprara and Jeff Sykes completed the top five. Once in front, Tyler Meeks was well in control and was pulling away from the field with no problems, but Taylor Caparara was on the charge as he slowly started to move to the front. Caprara would get by Forbes for third and then run down Tressider for the runner up spot, while Meeks continued his dominant run and a possible first win of the season. With 10 laps to go Meeks was closing in on lapped traffic as Caprara would get by Tressider for the second spot. With five laps left, the big lead Meeks had was gone and Caprara was right there to challenge. Coming to the line with two laps left, Taylor Caprara would make a brave move for the lead on the high side off turn four to take the top spot. From there Taylor Caprara would make his dream come true scoring his first career DIRTcar 358 Modified win on home turf. Meeks came across in second over Lance Willix Billy Dunn and Preston Forbes.
The Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprints saw another classic battle between the top two in points on this night. Logan Crisafulli led early over Josh Verne Jr., who came into the night as the points leader. Verne was close through the first half of the race and looked to have the car to beat. Just past half way Verne started to lose touch with the leader as Crisafulli started to pull away, while behind them, two-time winner, Jordan Bennett had moved to third. Over the final laps, Logan Crisafulli would drive away unchallenged to score his third win of the season. Josh Verne Jr. and Jordan Bennett completed the podium.
The FABCO DIRTcar Pro Stocks were back for their sixth appearance of the season and Tyler Bushey led early over Justin White and Bruno Richard. Bushey was quick early but Richard was slightly faster. On lap 5 Richard grabbed the lead and started to pull away, but behind him things got very interesting with Bushey and White. On lap 8 of the 20 lap event, Justin White clipped the back end of Bushey in turn four, sending him into a full 360 spin. Bushey would continue on but his shot at victory was gone away. On this night, Bruno Richard continued his season of dominance, as he drove away from a quality field to score his fourth win at Can Am, second win in two nights and 15th overall win on the season. Justin White crossed the line second but was docked two positions after contact with Tyler Bushey. This put Steve Gilmore to second at the finish, with Tyler Bushey, Justin White and Eli Gilbert finishing 5th.
The Marsha Gibbons TLC Real Estate Thundercar division was looking to close the night out with a 15 lap event and OJ White wasted not time grabbing the lead. White was fast early but Jock Symonds was on the charge and took the lead in turn one from the high lane and began to author a dominant performance. Behind him Joe Orvis was on the charge to the front. Orvis took second and brought Francis White with him to the third spot. On lap 11 Kevin Greenfield spun his car in turn 4, giving Orvis one last shot at the leader. When the green flew Jock Symonds jumped in front and never looked back as he scored his division leading 4th win of the season. Francis White would cross the line second with Joe Orvis, continuing his string of top three finishes, crossing in the third spot.
Can Am Speedway takes next Friday August 19th off but will return on Friday August 26th with a full six division card starting at 7pm.
