Joshua Shipley Nets Top 10 During ASCS Southwest Region Season Opener

Inside Line Promotions – PEORIA, Ariz. (March 5, 2018) – Joshua Shipley kicked off his ASCS Southwest Region campaign with a solid outing last Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park.

“The track was pretty greasy when we went out for hot laps,” he said. “Then I started fifth in the heat race and that didn’t do us any good, especially with it being a one-lane track.”

Shipley finished where he started in the heat race, which missed a spot in the feature redraw by only two spots.

“That started us 10th in the feature,” he said. “We had a really good start, but then someone spun out so we had to have another restart.”

The second attempt to start the race wasn’t in Shipley’s favor as he got tangled up when a competitor jumped his right rear. Although the incident damaged his car, Shipley was able to rejoin the field.

“We lined up 14th after getting back on the track and made our way up to eighth,” he said. “We were content with our finish after dealing with the adversity we faced. We’re definitely looking forward to our next race in a couple of weeks.”

Shipley will return to ASCS Southwest Region competition on March 24 at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz.
