26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (May 31, 2018) – After nearly two months off, Paul Martin and the CSP Micro Sprints returned to action on Saturday and Sunday night for Canyon Speedway Park’s Salute to Indy weekend.
Martin kicked off the Salute to Indy weekend with a third-place finish in his heat, lining him up seventh for the start of the feature event.
“With a good dry slick setup, we moved up to fifth and advanced to third holding off several young competitors,” Martin explained. “On the last restart, coming to the white flag, I made a pass for second and was forced down to the inside and couldn’t complete the pass and settled for third.”
Martin’s third-place finish on Saturday was his fourth podium finish of the season.
Entering Sunday night’s finale, Martin looked to improve upon his third-place finish and extend his points lead.
“Night two was a challenge as the track didn’t dry out at all like I was hoping,” he said. “We finished fourth in the heat, but went the wrong way with the setup, and we were way too tight in the main, making the car bound up and hard to drive.”
Starting seventh for the second straight night, Martin slipped back to a tenth-place finish to close out the weekend.
Martin will take an 18-point advantage in the series standings when the CSP Micro Sprints return to Canyon Speedway Park in September.
Martin’s next race will be June 22nd and 23rd at Plaza Park Raceway in Visalia, CA for the Budweiser Outlaw Nationals.
Paul Martin would like to thank Optiv Security Consultants, Hilton Glass, Prestige Realty, Don Jose’ Mexican Food, Forterra Pipe & Precast, ARC Powder Coating, Memory Lane Customs, MGI Motorsports, Steffey Excavating, #97JusticeforMakayla for their continued support.
