Inside Line Promotions – EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada (Aug. 27, 2016) – Trey Starks earned his first career international victory on Saturday at Castrol Raceway, where he pocketed the $4,000 top prize for capturing the 61st annual Jim Albert Memorial Gold Cup.

The event, which served as Round 4 of the NSA Shootout, marked the eighth feature triumph at eight different tracks this season for Starks.

“It’s been an unbelievable year so far,” he said. “To put my name on the list as a Gold Cup winner is pretty special. Doug Rutz gave me a great opportunity to drive for him this weekend and I’m glad we came away with another big win.”

Starks drew the pole for the main event and he capitalized on the starting position. However, two other front starters overcame early miscues to make a late-race charge.

Casey Adams, who started on the outside of the front row, and third-starting Travis Rilat both spun in the early stage of the feature. Both drivers maneuvered through the field to rebound to their original starting positions with Adams placing second and Rilat third.

David Miller finished fourth and Jared Peterson rounded out the top five.

Adams kicked off the night by setting quick time during qualifying. The heat races were won by Rilat, Miller and Eric Fisher. Sean MacDonell was the B Main winner.

Additionally, the NSA Shootout would like to thank Dewar Western Inc., Joan Albert and Family, Carlan Services, Ron Hodgson Chevrolet, North American Diesel Performance, Northern Collision, Central Tire, B&R Recovery Inc., All West Auto Parts, Xtreme Oilfield Technologies, SpeedMart, Castrol Raceway, DC Signs, King Racing Products, 82 Ave Lo-Cost Automatic Transmission, Triple X Racing Components, CRI Rutz Racing, ProWest Motorsports, Airways Country Inn, Blackjacks Roadhouse and Pulse Racing Innovations for support of the event.
