Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway will go from its biggest IMCA Modified race of 2016 to its biggest Quality RV Repair Hornet event on Saturday, July 30th. Closing out the month of July is the Froggy 44, which is ran in memory of the late Melvin Walker. The Quality RV Repair Hornets will be the headlining division but also on the card is the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, Late Models, and IMCA Sport Mods. Also, the special promotion for the weekend is if you have a CDL License you get into the races for just $5.00. The winner of the Froggy 44 collects $444.00 and the Clark Printing Extreme Sprint main event is $1000.00 to win.

Melvin Walker was a huge supporter of Cottage Grove Speedway in so many ways. He was a longtime participant in the Demolition Derbies as well as the Street Stocks and Hornets. Not only was he a driver but he also tremendously helped build the car count up, in both the Street Stocks and Hornets, by fielding several cars under the Froggy's banner. He also supported many racers and kept them on the race track through sponsorship so they could continue their passion in acing.

In the Quality RV Repair Hornets, this season Joe Maricle has been the car to beat. Maricle has posted seven main event wins over the course of the current campaign. Josh Corley is the only other multi-feature winner with four trips to victory lane. Single race victors include K.C. Scott and Brett Moffett. This weekend we want to let Hornet teams know that YOU WILL BE TECHED THOROUGHLY.

In the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints Patrick Dills and Dusty Redmond remains the only two repeat winners of 2016. Both have managed to win twice this season while a list of several drivers has won once. That list includes Ricky Ashley, Dave Hibbard, Orion Redmond, and most recently Camden Robustelli.

The Late Models have been running regularly at CGS for several weeks in a row now. Britton Donahoo and Ron Brewster each have two wins apiece this year. John Duty, Rob Campos, Darren Coffell, and Jesse Williamson are drivers with one feature win to their credit.

Jorddon Braaten has been the guy to beat at CGS in the IMCA Sport Mods. In fact, every single IMCA Sport Mod feature winner has been an out of towner, but that will look to change on Saturday. Braaten leads the win total with an impressive five wins while Chris Frisbie and Jimmy Lipke each have one.

Times for Saturday are Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, and Racing is scheduled to start around 6:30. Tickets are Adults $13.00, Juniors/Seniors $10.00, Youth (6-12) $5.00, Family Pass $30.00, and Children 5 or under are FREE.
