James And R. Bloom Triumphant At CGS On Friday August 3rd

Cottage Grove, Oregon- As the Summer Thunder Sprint Series were the headliners at Cottage Grove Speedway on Friday, August 3rd, two support divisions would be on tap. They included the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds and Street Stocks.
In the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modified main event Grey Ferrando would set the tone early. The Stayton native showed a lot of speed in the early goings but would lose the top spot on lap twelve to Jake Mayden. Mayden, of Springfield, held on to the coveted position for quite a bit of time. Unfortunately, he would be passed on the twenty-third lap, shortly after a restart, by Albany youngster Bricen James. James retained the position the rest of the way to win his fifth race of the season at CGS in 2018.
In the Street Stocks there would be three different leaders in as many laps. Ray Bloom, of Cottage Grove, secured the lead on the third circuit and didn’t look back. He went on to win his third race of the season and is now tied with Andrew Langan and David Schmidt for most victories this year.
Saturday, August 4th, will have the return of the Summer Thunder Sprint Series, Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and IMCA Sport Mods all on the card. For more information log on to www.cottagegrovepseedway.com .
