Cottage Grove Speedway Hosts IMCA Wild West Modified Shootout On Monday And Tuesday; $10.00 Car Load Special Both Nights

Cottage Grove, Oregon- Rounds four and five will be no doubt two hotly contested affairs. Taking place on Monday, June 24th, and Tuesday, the 25th, at Cottage Grove Speedway with the IMCA Wild West Modified Shootout it will be the twelfth and thirteenth time the series has come to town since 2011. It is the first of two facilities, the other being Willamette Speedway at the tail end of the week, that teams will have the luxury to stay put for at least one night and not have to worry about traveling to the next place.
Cottage Grove Speedway has been on the calendar in every edition of the WWMS but has not ran all their events. Weather completely washed out the 2013 race while in 2014 the July 22nd event was completed but the next night was cancelled due to rain. However, it was made up on a Thursday, the 24th, with no issues. Since 2014, except for 2015, there have been two nights of racing at “The Grove”.
CGS has been the site of many first-time winners with the series including Jesse Williamson (2011), Scott Lenz (2013), Nick Trenchard (2014), John Campos (2017), and Ethan Dotson (2017). Jesse Williamson leads the pack in trips to victory lane over the years, with three triumphs, while Ethan Dotson has won twice. Mark Wauge, Kellen Chadwick, Nick Trenchard, Scott Lenz, Alex Stanford, and John Campos all have won once. Williamson and Dotson split the wins in 2018.
In local competition this season there have been quite a few different drivers earning hardware. Collen Winebarger and defending track champion Jake Mayden are the only two drivers to have been victorious twice. Eric Ashley, Derrick Young, and Kevin Williamson have managed to park it on the front stretch once apiece.
Both nights Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 3:30 PM, with Racing beginning at 6:00 PM. As mentioned above both races will offer a $10.00 Car Load Special so pack those vehicle (safely) with as many race fans as possible. For more information log on to www.cottagegrovespeedway.com .
As has been the case for the past few Wild West Modified Shootouts the fine folks at Speed Shift TV will be providing live lap-to-lap coverage of every single round. Be sure and stay tuned to the Wild West Modified Shootout Facebook page for the latest news and updates.
