FROGGY 44 TRIBUTE TO MELVIN WALKER THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 29TH AT COTTAGE GROVE SPEEDWAY!
This Saturday the Kiefer Compacts will pay tribute to the late Mel Walker in this year's Froggy 44! Mel was a huge supporter of a lot of things here at Cottage Grove Speedway before what was then known as the Hornet class started, but when that class took off Mel found himself happiest racing in the 4 cylinder class along with his wife and many close friends, some of which still race in what is today called the Kiefer Compacts! They, as well as the staff here are honored to once again run this race in his honor!
This year we had a great family step up and not only pay the top prize but also purchase lap #44! The other 43 laps are still available to purchase, if you would like to purchase a lap please call Heather at 541-729-8666. All Lap money will go back into the purse for this race by adding to positions or paying out additional bonuses!
The Format and current payout can be found at the bottom of this article. Please note this is a sanctioned IMCA Sport Compact race and all cars must be registered with IMCA.
In addition to Kiefer Compacts Saturday nights racing action will feature Late Models, Wheeless Trailer Modifieds, Roadhouse Billiards & Brew Sportmods, & Street Stocks!
It's a busy week of racing here at Cottage Grove Speedway with Midweek Mayhem on Wednesday, Karts on Friday, and the Froggy 44 on Saturday! We can't wait to see you at the races!!
Froggy 44 Format
Pill draw for heat race positioning, each heat race group will group qualify in order, heat race/hot lap groups will be the same.
Heats will be lined up with a 6-car invert, failure to run hot laps in your group will result in being lined up in rear of heat, you will lose any qualifying bonus points but will still receive passing points.
Heats: heat races will run with the ascs point system however bonus points will be given for qualifying as follows:
1st-15 2nd-12 3rd-8 4th-5
Points will be tallied after all heats top 16 directly to A main
Ties will be broken by hot lap speed
Top 8 will redraw for A main line up in the event of tie for 8th point position all cars will draw for position that are tied (ex if 8th and 9th are tied 9 cars redraw)
17th through remainder of field will line up by points for B main (top 4 transfer to A main)
17 cars or less 2 heats 18-23 3 heats 24-32 4 heats 33 + 5 heats
17-32 cars single B main, transfer 4 33 plus cars, 2 B- mains transfer 2 each
