USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship coming to The Creek

SPRING VALLEY, MN - December 17, 2013:  (Photo courtesy of Mike Roth Photography) For the first time since 1988, the "Thunder & Lightning" of the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship treks north for a visit to Minnesota. Deer Creek Speedway hosts the return on Saturday June 21st, as the wingless warriors visit the Spring Valley, MN oval for the first time.

Tickets for this historic event will go on sale Thursday, December 19th at 8:00 a.m.  Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here or by calling 1-877-DCS-Race. (507-754-6107)

"I'm really excited to see Deer Creek Speedway on our schedule. I'm always wanting to race at new places and visit some new areas, and all I've heard about Deer Creek is how nice the place is. It should be a fun weekend, and hopefully the fans up north are looking forward to it as much as we are," said back-to-back series champion Bryan Clauson, who will defend his crown in 2014 along with his Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian #20 team.

Clauson finished the season with seven wins, as did series runner-up Dave Darland and "Most Improved" Kevin Thomas, Jr., both of whom will be expected at Deer Creek along with a host of others traveling from USAC's home base in Indiana.

The weekend is filled with two races in Wisconsin, as AMSOIL Speedway in Superior fills Friday's slot before the weekend finishes on Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie.

"We were happy to get this trip put together to give us an opportunity to get to Deer Creek," said Sprint Car Series Coordinator Jason McCord, adding, "Getting a three-race weekend and some incentives together for our traveling teams should enable us to bring a healthy bunch of cars up there. It will be great to see USAC Sprint Cars in new territory putting on the fantastic races they're known for."

USAC's last visit to Minnesota was a rare winged event at Jackson won by Danny Lasoski. The Minnesota history runs deep in USAC, however, as legendary drivers Don Branson and Jud Larson won a pair of 1964 races at the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul.
