The Buses Are Back!!!
SPRING VALLEY, MN – May 15, 2014: (Pictures courtesy of Scott Gulbranson Photo) The buses are back to tackle the high banks of Deer Creek Speedway. This Saturday, May 17th, six area schools will go head to head to see who has the fastest bus in the area.
The school year is coming to an end but it wouldn’t be complete without the annual Johnston Autostores School Bus Races at Deer Creek Speedway. This family fun event has become one of the highest attended events on the schedule and a way for kids of all ages to enjoy an affordable night out.
Blooming Prairie is looking to defend their title as Doug Miner piloted the bus to the checkers in 2013. The feat of repeat will be tough as Kingsland, Osage, Grand Meadow, Goodhue and Chatfield all want to take the crown in 2014.
Also competing on the 3/8 mile monster will be the USRA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Mods, USRA B-Mods and the WISSOTA Street Stocks.
The weekend’s event will kick off at 2:00 p.m. on Button Buck Speedway as the little stars and their cars will kick off their 2014 season. The spotlight will be on the senior division as they have been called up to the big leagues and will race their feature during the evening’s events.   Don’t forget that the afternoon events are FREE in the grandstands for ALL ages!
The draw cut off and the driver’s meeting for those competing on Deer Creek Speedway will take place at 4:30 at the scales. Raceceivers and transponders will be required with a limited quantity available to rent. The first green flag is scheduled to fly at 5:00 p.m.
Adult tickets for the evening events are $12 and kids 12 and under get in for FREE! Participating schools are selling the $12 tickets and receive $6 for every ticket that they sell. Pit passes are $25 for adults and $15 for 12 and under. As an added bonus there will be FREE face painting for the kids during the evening events.
