Hanson Outduels Blowers In Street Stock Dandy At The Creek
Spring Valley, MN (June 11) - After a two week hiatus due to Mother Nature’s rain, racing action resumed at Deer Creek Speedway. This week’s program was presented by Clements Chevrolet Cadillac Subaru, Werner Electric, Wagner Trucking and Old Dutch Foods. One hundred eight cars signed in and two drivers scored their first wins of the season while the rest added to their win totals.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were first up for feature action and Antonio Pintaro sat on the pole with Tammy Soma-Clark flanked to his outside. Pintaro would jump to the early lead followed by Dan Wheeler and Jason Born. Wheeler would quickly snag the lead on lap two and Born went to second. Jared Boumeester was on the fly from row five and drove to the fourth spot while Casey Trom cracked the top five.
Boumeester passed Pintaro for third on lap three and two laps later got by Born for second. Boumeester then reeled in Wheeler and started to challenge for the lead. Boumeester caught Wheeler and then stole the lead on lap 10. Boumeester led the last eight laps for his first win of the season followed by Wheeler in second. Garitt Wytaske had a late race charge to third with Pintaro and Trom in the top five.
Fred Prudoehl and Noah Grinstead led the 19-car KIK Graphics & Printing WISSOTA Street Stock field to the green flag. Bernie Adams snuck by the front row and took the initial lead with Prudoehl, Grinstead and Mike Blowers close. Blowers snuck to second while the top eight cars ran in tight formation. A yellow on lap three set up a wild restart.
They went four wide up front as Bernie Adams took the low line from Blowers and Noah Grinstead found himself out front. Blowers and Kory Adams battled for second but Bernie Adams stalled in turn one to trigger a yellow. On the restart, Blowers bolted to the lead and Danny Hanson got to third. Danny Richards used the high grove and now found himself in fourth. Hanson got to second and another yellow would set up a torrid battle up front.
Blowers and Hanson put on a fantastic door-to-door battle for the lead. They raced that way for several laps and Hanson was scored the leader on lap 10. While Hanson and Blowers ran the low groove, Richards closed in as he ran the top. The three were set up for the finish but a caution slowed the pace with two laps to go.
Blowers was the leader to complete lap 17, but Hanson rallied on the final lap to steal the win at the checkered flag. It was Hanson’s second win of the season and his 34th career win at the speedway. Blowers was second and Nick Schwebach passed Richards for third. Kyle King roared his way into the top five after he started 19th.
Another huge field of 36-Dirt Doctor Trucking USRA B-Mods were scaled down to a 26-car pack for their 18-lap feature. Trevor Fecht led until J.T. Wasmund took over on lap three. Kadden Kath charged up to second on lap four. This race was marred by numerous cautions and only half of the cars were around at the checkered flag.
When the green flag was out the racing was good. Kadden Kath took the lead from Wasmund on lap seven. Brandon Hare was in the mix as was Kylie Kath and Cole Queensland. Queensland used the high groove and got to second. Queensland took the lead after a restart on lap 11. Queensland held on through a couple of more cautions for his second win of the season. Kadden Kath was second with Hate third. Kylie Kath would come home in fourth and rookie Jim Chisholm finished out the top five.
Jon Duffy led early on in the Olympic Fire Protection WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Neil Eckhart worked by Dave Solum for second and set after the leader. It did not take long for Eckhart to dispose of Duffy as he took the lead on lap two. Kevin Hager worked on Duffy for second but was collected by Jeff Brauer and spun. Brauer was sent to the back but that wouldn’t be it for him in this 20-lap race.
Eckhart cruised out front and pulled away from the pack for his first win this season. Brauer charged his way back through the pack to finish second at the checkered flag. Tommy Richards finished in third with Hager and Solum whom rounded out the top five.
Jake Timm and Mick Glenn led the 25-car pack of NAPA Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds to the green for their 25-lap main event. Timm jumped to the lead over Glenn while Jason Cummins and Brandon Davis gave chase. Davis got by Cummins and then drove by Glenn for second on lap five. A cuation on lap 11 would lead to Timm’s demise up front.
Davis’ car ran well up on the top side and he quickly challenged Timm for the lead. Davis made his move in turn two on the fourteenth circuit to assume the lead. Davis drove away from there for his second win of the year and his 48th win at the speedway. Timm and Cummins had a superb race for second and Cummins got the edge late in the race. Keith Foss ran in the top five and ended up fourth while Jacob Bleess finished fifth.
