Schedule Updates - Southern MN Spring Challenge - Double Down Challenge

Spring Valley, MN - July 9, 2016:  It is no secret that Mother Nature has wreaked havoc on the Deer Creek Speedway early this 2016 race season. A couple of big special events were washed out in the month of May and race fans were awaiting the news of possible make up dates.

Fortunately, officials from Deer Creek, the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Model Series and Casey’s General Store USMTS Modifieds have come up with new dates for those shows. First up will the reschedule date for the A&A Electric & Underground Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge which will be ran in Saturday, July 30. This show was rained out on Memorial Day weekend.

The event will feature the USMTS Modifieds who will gun for a $3000 first place check. Also on the cars will be the Dirt Doctor Trucking USRA B-Mods, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and KIK Graphics & Printing WISSOTA Street Stocks. Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m. with the Blake Trucking Slingshots racing at 3:00 p.m. on the Button Buck Speedway. Hot laps will be at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6:00 p.m.

The next change comes with the show that was originally scheduled for July 30 but will now be moved to Saturday, August 6. It is dubbed “The Double Down Challenge� and will also be a drivers recognition night. Drivers can race for double the purse they normally race for that night. All they need to do is pay a $50 entry fee when they sign in for the night. It is a voluntary program but just for an example if a USRA Modified driver pays the $50 entry that night and wins the feature they will receive $2000 instead of the normal $1000 payout.

Also that night the speedway will be honoring and recognizing drivers from the past that laid the groundwork for the sport which we all love today. More information on that will be forthcoming. Pit gates that day will open at 2:00 p.m. with the slingshots racing at 3:00 p.m. Hot laps are once again at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6:00 p.m.

The much anticipated first ever Minnesota appearance of the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Model series will be held on Wednesday, August 10. This event will feature the Super Late Models of the MLRA in action along with the ever popular USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods. Pit gates will open at 4:00 p.m. on race fay with the grandstand opening at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps will be at 6:30 p.m. and the first green flag will be at 7:00 p.m.
