Eckhart Snares Third In A Row At The Creek
Spring Valley, MN July 16, 2016:  The Minnesota Corn Growers Association presented “Tasseldega Nights� at Deer Creek Speedway. The event was also presented by Ag Power Enterprises, BK Millriight and Adams Graphix. This night’s racing program offered free admission to the speedway for everyone in attendance. The facility was packed to the gills on am absolutely beautiful night for racing. A field of 114-race cars checked in to perform for the huge crowd.
The first of five main events on the track was the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. Twenty-four cars took the green flag for the 18-lap race and outside poke sitter Robbie Franklin shot to the lead. Franklin was followed by Antonio Pintaro while Garitt Wytaske, Jason Born and ninth starter Jared Boumeester went three wide for third.
Boumeester shot to third on lap two and then challenged Pintaro for second. Bonnie Jablonske nailed the turn three wall to bring out the caution,. Franklin led the pack to the green, but Boumeester pounced to blow by both Pintato and Franklin to take the lead. Jason Born slipped past Pintaro for third while Garitt Wytaske worked the highside. Boumeester glided to his third win of the season with Franklin second and Born third. Ryan Goergen drove to the fourth spot and Brad Seavers shuffled Pintato and Wytaske out of the top five.
The KIK Graphics & Printing Street Stocks were led to the green by Travis Krause and JR Jones. Mike Blowers wasted no time to take the lead in lap one as Krause, Blake Adams and Danny Richards were three wide for second. Adams zoomed to second and Richards took over third on lap four. The race up front heated uo when the top four closed in on each other.
Blowers held the lead but Krause stormed back to second and was right on the leader. Blowers and Krause were side-by-side for the lead on lap 12 with Richards close behind them, Blowers ran the low line and Krause was up top as they continued to duke it out up front. Blowers then slid up to the top and Krause crossed over and went downstairs.
Blowers led the rest of the way to score his fourth win of the season and 12th overall this season. Richards snuck past Krause to claim the second spot. Krause wound up third with Blake Adams fourth and Bernie Adams rounded out the top five.
Alex Williamson led lap number one in the Dirt Doctor Trucking USRA B-Mod feature. Brandon Hare and Cole Queensland gave chase early on as they race for second. Queensland disposed of Hare and then stormed to the lead on lap three. Williamson then had his hands full with Hare for second. Hare got the spot just before the races only caution flag.
Queensland was challenged a couple of times by Hare but was up to the challenge. Queensland drove on for his fourth win of the year. Hare came home in second with Williamson in third. Dustin Kruse made a late race charge to fourth and Parker Hale took fifth on the final lap.
The 20-lap Olympic Fire Protection WISSOTA Super Stock feature was a dandy, Kevin Hager and Jon Duffy led the 14-car pack to the green flag A scary moment happened on lap one when Dylan Kromschroeder spun in turn four and caught Harland Morehart’s car. Morehart spun, hit the infield berm and rolled over. After several tense moments the 78-year old Morehart was deemed to be alright after the tumble much to the delight of the huge crowd.
When the race resumed, Tommy Richards drove past Duffy for second and chased Hager up front. Richards took the lead from Hager on lap four while Neil Eckhart cracked the top five. Danny Richards vaulted past Hager for second and tried to catch his brother Tommy up front. Brandon Duellman and Jeff Brauer were also in the mix when the top five ran in tight formation.
Eckhart and Duellman continued to move towards the front and slipped past Danny Richards to race for second. Eckhart got past Duellman for second on lap 10, but things remained tight up front. Eckhart and Duellman caught Tommy Richards and all of a sudden were three wide for the lead.
Duellman was scored the leader on lap 12, but Eckhart rebounded on lap 14 to claim the lead. Duellman then had Jeff Brauer to deal with for second. Eckhart led the rest of the way for his fourth win of the season and his third win in a row at the speedway. Brauer edged Duellman for second with Tommy Richards fourth and Hager in the top five.
Jacob Dahle led the initial laps of the NAPA Auto Care Centers USRA Modified feature. Dahle was followed by Josh Angst and Lucas Schott. There were two quick yellows to sow the race and keep things close up front. On a restart, Dahle, Schott and Angst went three abreast up front with Schott now in the lead.
Angst drove up to challenge Schott for the lead on lap five while Brad Waits passed Dahle for third. Angst took the lead on lap six and pulled away. Even through lapped traffic, Angst was flawless and went unchallenged to the checkered flag. It was Angst’s third win of the season while Schott finished in second. Waits had a good run in third with tenth starter Jake Timm in fourth and Dahle was fifth.
