Dad’s Bring Good Karma For Deer Creek Winners

Spring Valley, MN ( May 13)

By: Todd Narveson

Mother Nature brought a spectacular night for KIK Marketing, Bandit Big Rig Series, Six-Two Graphics, Hildebrandt Services and Rent-N-Save night at the speedway. The pit area was filled with 107-cars who fought hard on the high-banks at the Creek. It may have been Mother’s Day weekend, but it was dear old Dad that brought good fortune to some of the feature winners this week.

The first main event on track was the National Fleet Graphics WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. Ron Jablonske and Tianna Mithun led the pack to the green flag for the 18-lap race. Mithun in her second season in the Midwest Modifieds took the lead and was chased by Dan Wheeler. Mitch Weiss came from eighth to third on lap two.

Wheeler snatched the lead on lap later with Mithun, Weiss and Robbie Franklin all close. Weiss passed Mithun for second and Franklin came along for the ride to third. Garitt Wytaske got by Mithun for fourth and was close to the lead trio, Weiss challenged Wheeler but it was Franklin with a slick move to the lead on lap seven with Weiss now second. Weiss and Franklin made contact and Franklin got turned and that created a mulit- car melee. Weiss was tagged with the yellow and Franklin was restored as the leader.

A series of three yellows slowed the race at this point. When things went back green, Wheeler slipped past Franklin for the lead and Wytaske got to second on lap 12. Gunnar Watkins entered the fray and got to third. Another yellow flew on lap 14 and closed the pack back up.

Wytaske who took his Dad Albert’s number over when he started racing worked the low groove on the restart and passed Wheeler for the lead. Wytaske led the rest of the way for the win Franklin got back by Watkins and Wheeler for second. Wheeler finished in third with Watkins fourth and Don Schaefer rounded out the top five.

A pack of 24 Adams Graphix WISSOTA Street Stocks were on hand this week. melyik fogadóiroda nem korlátoz That is the biggest Street Stock field since April 8, 2006 at Deer Creek. Troy Voth led early with a three wide pack behind him. Noah Grinstead worked to second and challenged the leader on lap two. One circuit later Grinstead took over the point.

Ninth started Mike Blowers worked the low groove and took third on lap four. Two yellows would slow the field and set up the restart. Blowers bolted to the lead when he zipped past Voth and Grinstead. Voth would spin and trigger a caution on lap six. Blowers would take off but it was Danny Hanson on the move to second. Hanson would close the gap a bit on the leader but was not able to offer a challenge.

Blowers would score his third straight win over Hanson at the checkered flag. mai tippmix eredmények A secret donor was so impressed by the big Street Stock car car that they donated $200 to the feature winner. Blake Adams came from row seven to finish in third after a great battle with Travis Krause who finished fourth. Grisntead would bring his car home in the fifth position.

The Dirt Doctor Trucking USRA B-Mods got off to a rough start with two cautions right off the bat. Kadden Kath and Parker Hale had a good race going up front. gaminator pénz csalások Hale used the top side to take the lead and pull away from Kath. Ben Moudry got to third and tried to keep pace with the lead duo.

Hale had his car cranked up on the top of the track and set a torrid pace until a yellow flag came out on lap 14. Hale maintained his lead with Kath, Moudry and Andrew Bleess in pursuit. For the second week in a row Dustin Kruse charged from mid-pack and shot out of the blue into the top five late in the race.

Hale took the win with a little karma help from his dad Troy. Troy was the first ever Modified winner at the speedway and Parker’s graphic scheme this year pays homage to his dad’s machine from back then. Hale also wore one of Troy’s driver suits to victory lane also. Kath would come home in second with Moudry in third. Kruse’s charge found him in fourth and Bleess was fifth.

The Brauer Roofing WISSOTA Super Stocks had Ryan Schaufler and Schatney Sanders in row one. Sanders bolted off the front row and stormed away from the pack. Dan Nissalke used a three-wide move to take third with A.J Hoff and Jeff Brauer in the mix. Hoff took second and Brauer was now third, but Sanders had checked out up front.

Sanders led the entire 20-laps which went green to checkered without a caution. Sanders who had sold his car in the off-season drove his father Ed’s car with Dad’s number 42 on the sides in 2017. Hoff finished in second with Brauer in third. Nissalke finished in fourth and Schaufler was fifth.

Dustin Sorensen and Steve Wetzstein led the 24-car field to the green for the NAPA Suto Care Centers USRA Modified feature. After a quick caution to start things off, Sorensen took the lead with Wetzstein close behind. Jacob Bleess moved to third with Josh Angst on his heels. Bleess worked the low line to sneak past Wetzstein for second on lap four.

It did not take Bleess long to track down Sorensen and made a pass for the lead on lap six. A caution would tighten things back up and Sorensen mounted a challenge at the drop of the green. Yet another yellow for a skirmish on the frontstretch slowed things up again. When the green returned, 10th starter Jason Cummins entered the top five, got to fourth and then went after Wetzstein for third. A yellow on lap 11 would eliminate Bleess’ lead.

Sorensen again challenged the leader on the start and Bleess was unable to shake him. Sorensen went high and then low to take the lead on lap 18. The next lap a big melee in turn two blocked the track and the yellow flag flew again. When the race resumed, Sorensen led while Cummins snagged second from Bleess. Sorensen took off but the yellow flag reared its ugly head on lap 23 to set up a two lap dash to the finish.

Sorensen, a third generation racer took over his father Mike’s car number scored his first Modified win at Deer Creek, It was Sorensen’s third win in five total starts in 2017. Cummins would finish in second with Angst in third. Levi Nielsen used a late race move to take fourth and Bleess was in the top five.
