Shanna Motl - May 31, 2017:  The May 27, 2017 Blake Trucking Slingshot Races at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN was a wild and windy one for racers and fans!
The Pee Wee class had the cars of Tucker Jacobs in the 78J and Curtis Parmenter in the 7C.  This 10 lap feature was being led by the 78J of Jacobs with the 7C of Parmenter hot on his tail.  Jacobs got loose in turn 4, where Parmenter found his opening and got around Jacobs.  With 6 laps to go, Parmenter took a commanding lead over Jacobs all the way to the checkered flag for his first ever slingshot points win.  Jacobs finished in 2nd this week.

The Junior slingshot feature race had the K34 of Kolton Brauer with the 43 of Koby Wagner on the outside.  Inside second row was the 8T of Toby Kennedy with the 411 of Gavin Oldefendt on the outside.  The K34 of Brauer showed determination as he began to stretch out his lead from the 43 of Wagner.  A battle between the 8T of Kennedy and 411 of Odefendt ensued throughout the 12 lap feature race, but the 8T was able to hold off the 411 of Odefendt and finish in 3rd place this week with the 411 of Odefendt finishing in 4th.  2nd place went to the 43 of Wagner, and the K34 of Brauer clenched his first victory of the 2017 season finishing in 1st place.

The Senior slingshot race had the 20 of Gage Motl starting the race with the 28jr of Devin Born on the outside.  Inside second row was the 29 of Lilli Reps with the 77 of Hunter Kennedy on the outside.  Third row inside was the 25 of Joe Chisholm.  Motl got off to a good start, but the 28jr of Born took over in turn 3 where he never let up.  The 77 of
Kennedy moved up into 3rd place around the 29 of Reps.  The 25 of Chisholm raced side by side of the 29 of Reps for that 4th place position, while the 77 of Kennedy now challenged the 20 of Motl for 2nd.  With the battle in the backfield, the 28jr of Born stretched out a substantial lead for the rest of this 18 lap feature race to finish in 1st place for his very first win of his slingshot career! Motl was able to hang onto 2nd place with the 77 of Kennedy in 3rd, the 25 of Chisholm in 4th, and the 29 of Reps in 5th.
