This week’s racing event dubbed “Tasseldega Nights featured free admission to everyone in the grandstand. This was compliments of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association along with the Olmsted, Mower, Freeborn, Dodge, Winona and Goodhue county corn and soybean growers. There were also 18-farm related businesses involved with this program.

This was the sixth year for the event with the purpose to educated the public on the benefits of ethanol fuel and the general role that the American farmer plays in everyone’s daily lives.

It was a packed house for the event with quite a few first time visitors to the speedway. Another great field of 117 race cars came and put on a great shoe for those fans. Three drivers added to their winning ways and two got their first feature wins.

Eighteen Adams Graphix WISSOTA Street Stocks were up first for their 18-lap feature. Kory Adams took off from row one followed by Mike Blowers and Zach Elward. Dustin Doughty challenged Elward for third while Elward then raced Blowers for second.

There was a six car pileup on lap 2 that involved the lead pack and Blowers went to the tail. On the restart, Blake Adams zoomed up and battled Elward and Doughty while Kory Adams held the lead. Doughty charge to second and Jason Newkirk entered the top five.

Blake Adams, Elward and Newkirk proceeded to race three wide for third while Doughty closed in on Kory Adams. Doughty dove low and went side-by-side with Kory Adams for the lead. Nick Schwebach was in the top five now and chased Elward for third.

Doughty stole the lead on lap 11, but Kory Adams got it back on lap 12. Things were wild behind the lead duo when positions continued to shuffle. Braden Brauer was in the top five and Travis Krause also entered the picture.

Kory Adams led the rest of the way for his first win since August 8, 2015. Doughty finished in second while Elward held off all challengers for third. Krause would end up fourth with Newkirk fifth.

Jacob Toepper and Peter Leuschner led the 24-car Dirt Doctor Trucking Midwest Modified feature to the green flag. This race got off to a slow start with two cautions in the first two laps.

Leuschner would jump to the lead with Don Schaefer behind him. Dan Wheeler charged from eighth to race with Schaefer and Toepper for position. Ryan Wetzstein ended up backwards on the frontstretch to bring out a caution.

There were a couple of laps under green until another yellow flag slowed things on lap seven. On the start, Wheeler zipped to the lead, Schaefer pulled a slider to steal the lead in turn four, but Wheeler crossed over to the bottom of the track and regained the top spot. One more yellow came out on lap eight to tighten up the field.

Wheeler drove on from there for his second win and a clean sweep of the night. Schaefer ended up second with Michael Wytaske in third after a late race charge. Josh Crary raced from 18th to fourth and Leuschner woud finish fifth.

Parker Hale took the early advantage in the National Fleet Graphics USRA B-Mod main event. Jett Sorensen, Nick Wagner and Cole Denner gave chase before the yellow flag came out on lap two.

Wagner took second on the start and then slipped past Hale for the lead. Dustin Kruse who came from 12th was already up to second when he passed Hale. But Wagner spun and Hale made contact when he tried to avoid him. Five more cars piled in and the yellow flag came back out.

Hale was the leader on the start but Kruse wasted no time going to the front on lap four. Jerry Young was now in the battle and raced Hale for second with Denner in the mix. Jim Chisholm who started in row seven, entered the top five on lap six.

Young and Denner now raced for second with Denner using the high line. Denner got to second on lap eight and Young now had his hands full with Hale and Chisholm. Chisholm got to third and then tried to track down Denner for second while Kruse opened up the lead.

Denner’s high groove bit him on lap 14 when he got into the turn one wall and broke one lap later to bring out the races final yellow flag. Kruse led the final four laps to get his first win of the season. Chisholm ended up second, with Brandon Maitland coming from 13th to third.

Shaun Walski came all the way from 19th to fourth and Hale ended up fifth.

Schatney Sanders took off from row one to led the 20-lap Brauer Roofing WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Dan Nissalke was close behind in second with Kevin Hager in third. Les Duellman passed Hager for third on lap two and then Neil Eckhart got by Hager for fourth. A yellow on lap six erased Sanders’ lead.

Duellman, Eckhart and Jeff Brauer went three wide for third on lap eight. Sanders and Nissalke remained tight for the lead and Brauer was now third. Another yellow on lap 12 slowed the race and during the caution Duellman exited the speedway.

On the restart, Sanders, Nissalke and Brauer drove three wide for the lead. Brauer got to the front on lap 14 and Eckhart was up to second. Eckhart then kept the low line to challenge Brauer for the lead.

Eckhart got alongside with one lap to go and made the pass for his second win of the season. Brauer was second with Nissalke third while Sanders finished in fourth and Dave Solum was fifth.

Josh Angst and Nate Wasmund led the 22-car Napa Auto Care Centers USRA Modified feature to the green flag. Angst took the lead with Wasmund right with him. Brandon Davis got by Wasmund for second on lap three and went after the leader.

Angst ran the high line and Davis was low on the speedway. Davis zipped to the lead on lap five while Jacob Bleess hit the top five. Wasmund passed Angst for second on lap seven and Bleess followed to third. Angst and Brandon Aggen got after it for fourth.

Davis opened up a big lead, but got into lapped traffic on lap 14. That allowed Wasmund and Bleess to reel in the leader. Wasmund and Bleess caught Davis and things were just about to get interesting.

Then on lap 16, Tammy Soma-Clark spun in front of the leaders. Davis snaked by while Wasmund made slight contact and Bleess made hard contact with Clark and the yellow flag flew. Bleess had the right side caved in on his car but was able to continue.

With the track now clear of the lapped cars, Davis checked out for his second win in a row and a clean sweep. Wasmund would finish second with Bleess third. Aggen would finish fourth and Angst ended up fifth.
