Kromschroeder & Larson Earn First Deer Creek Wins

Another nice field of 113-cars competed this week at Deer Creek Speedway. Two drivers nailed down their first ever Deer Creek wins this week. Two other drivers picked off their first of the season and another remained red hot.

This week’s event was presented by Podein’s Power Equipment, Weber Auto Parts, Wagner Trucking and Nu-Tech Seed. Also Bruce Freerksen with Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants gave away a case of oil to a randomly selected finishing position in each feature race.

The Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds had 25-cars start their 18-lap feature. Don Schaefer led from row one with Jason Vandekamp in pursuit. Mitch Weiss passed Cory Asmussen for third and then Austin Elllis did the same to take fourth.

Vandekamp stole the lead on lap four while Ellis moved to third. A caution on lap seven sent Nick Koehler to the tail, but he would put on a show when he stormed back towards the front. On the start, Weiss swept to second and now trailed Vandekamp while Kylie Kath took over third.

Kath then took second from Weiss before a yellow set up a very good restart. Weiss slid Kath for second, but Kath returned the favor. Ellis entered the picture and got past Weiss and then challenged Kath to take second. Meanwhile, Koehler was up to sixth when another caution waved on lap 13.

On the start, Kath and Ellis got together in turn three and the yellow returned. Kath was sent to the tail and then to the pits when he didn’t go to the back. Koehler really came alive on the next start, but a four car pile-up negated the start.

Koehler again got a great start and moved to third. All the while Ellis worked the low groove and challenged Vandekamp for the lead. Ellis led lap 15, but Vandekamp rebounded and took back over on lap 17. Vandekamp raced to the win with Ellis second. Koehler’s charge got him to a third place finish. Calvin Iverson would finish in the fourth position and Cory Asmussen would round out the top five.

Blake Adams guest drove the second Brauer Racing Street Stock and claimed the win in the Adams Graphix WISSOTA Street Stock feature, Adams started in row one and was never seriously challenged in the 18-lap race. Dustin Doughty, Adam Soltis and Braden Brauer had a great race for second.

Soltis would work past Doughty for second on lap 16. Brauer slipped past Doughty to take third with one lap to go. Doughty would finish in fourth with Nick Schewbach fifth.

A.J. Hoff and Jayden Larson sat in row one to start the National Fleet Graphics USRA B-Mod feature. After a quick yellow on the initial start, Larson vaulted to the early lead. Jared Boumeester made it a three car race up front while Kadden Kath cracked the top five.

Hoff challenged Larson for the lead but was unable to get past. Jim Chisholm was on the move from 18th and got into the top five on lap 13. Hoff scraped the wall on lap 14 and Boumeester slipped past. Hoff went right back after Boumeester to retake second.

Behind them Kath’s right front broke and sent him into the wall. Chisholm had no place to go and hit Kath’s car. Kath was done for the night, but somehow Chisholm was able to continue. That brought out a yellow to set up another restart.

Larson continued to lead while Boumeester stole second. Chisholm then drove to third as Hoff dropped back a bit. Larson then had to fend off a couple of challenges from Boumeester while Chisholm stayed with the lead duo.

Larson held on for his first Deer Creek feature win. Boumeester fended off Chisholm for second and Brandon Hare finished fourth after a few wall scraping moments for him. Brandon Maitland rallied from the 17th spot to round out the top five.

The Crenlo WISSOTA Super Stocks put on another good feature race this week. Also up for grabs was a $750 bonus in the Brauer Roofing Super Stock Challenge. Dylan Kromschroeder’s name was drawn at the pit meeting and if he could win the race, he and a lucky fan would each win $750.

Brandon Duellman took the lead from row two but slid high and that allowed Kromschroeder and Casey Underdahl to slip past. Neil Eckhart got to fourth and Jeff Brauer was fifth early in the 20-lap race.

Eckhart used the low groove and edged in on the leaders. Duellman was back to second while Eckhart tried to make the pass. Duellman then reeled in Kromschroeder and they were side-by-side on lap nine. Duellman took the lead and then opened up a lead.

The leaders caught lapped traffic on lap 12 and Kromschroeder again closed in. The lead duo was close on lap 16 and Kromschroeder executed a slide job to take the lead. Duellman then returned the favor to take the lead. But at the completion of lap 17, Kromschroeder again regained the point.

Kromschroeder held on to take the win and $1100 winner’s check. It was also his first Deer Creek Speedway feature win. Duellman was second for the second week in a row. Eckhart finished in third with Underdahl and Brauer in the top five.

The NAPA Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds started with a caution on the initial start. A potent front of Brandon Davis and Josh Angst led the field to the green flag for the 25-lap main event. Davis would rocket off row one to take the lead.

Angst trailed with J.T. Wasmund and Dustin Sorensen behind him. Sorensen worked past Wasmund on lap 5 for third and tried to close in on Angst. Davis pulled away, but a caution closed the field together on lap seven.

From there Davis drove away for his fourth win of the year and third in a row here. Angst finished a solid second with Sorensen in third. Cory Crapser got into the top five early and finished fourth while Brad Waits came from 10th to fifth.
