Chisholm Sets Win Streak Record At Deer Creek
Spring Valley, MN (June 12)
By: Todd Narveson
Lower humidity and temperatures were welcomed by the fans and racers at Deer Creek Speedway this week. The program was presented by Podein’s Power Equipment, Express Pressure Washers, Randy & Sandy Norby along with B&K Millright,
To say that USRA B-Mod racer Jim Chisholm is on a tear might be an understatement. He came into this week’s program in a four-way tie for the all-time win streak record at Deer Creek which is seven in a row.
Chisholm started seventh and methodically worked his way towards the front. He passed Taylor Ausrud, Jayden Larson and Alex Schubbe to snag the lead and led the rest of the way for his eighth win in a row and a new record. Ausrud and Larson ended up second and third while Dustin Kruse drove from 17th to fourth and Schubbe was fifth.
The Adams Graphix Street Stocks had a dandy race early on. There were several contenders in the mix, but Braden Brauer came from eighth to take the win. Dustin Doughty rallied back after being penalized two spots for as jump on a restart to finish second. Cody Kummer finished in third, Kory Adams roared from 12th to fourth and Nick Schwebach was fifth.
Dylan Goettl used his front row starting spot to take the lead in the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modfieds. Mitch Weiss came up to challenge and he and Goettl traded slide jobs for the lead. When Weiss tried to get low on Goettl they made contact in turn three to bring out the yellow. Weiss went to the tail and Goettl was restored as the leader.
Goettl led the remainder of the race to take the win. Kadden Kath would finish second with Peter Leuschner third. Adam Martinson charged from 19th to fourth and Ryan Goergen completed the top five.
Neil Eckhart stormed to the lead in the WISSOTA Super Stock feature and never looked back. Eckhart was dominant to pick up his first win of the season and 35th of his career at Deer Creek. Brandon Duellman came from eighth to finish second with Ryan Wiome, Dylan Kromschroeder and Spencer Stock in the top five.
The Eagles Club of Rochester USRA Late Models made their second appearance of the season, but the song remained the same. Lance Hofer worked to the front and then drove past Lucas Peterson, Triton Krause and Justin Sass for the lead.
From there it was all Hofer who got to the checkered flag first for his second win. Sass finished a strong second with Dylan Kromschroeder, Krause and Peterson rounding out the top five.
The Napa Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds concluded the program with their 25-lap main event. Jacob Bleess led the early laps but Dustin Sorensen moved from row five and challenged Bleess. They battled for a couple of laps until Sorensen took over.
Sorensen led the pack to the finish but the race behind him was good towards the end. Bleess was challenged by 11th starter Jason Cummins in the waning laps. Cummins would slip by for second while Bleess was third. Joel Alberts had a strong run in fourth and David Baxter finished fifth.
