ED AIKIN LEADS WIRE-TO-WIRE TO SCORE FIRST RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES WIN OF 2011

The RISLONE URC Sprint Series returned to the Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night for their nineteenth event of the 2011 season.   Ed Aikin of Lincoln University scored his first win of the season and fifth career win of 2011 on Taylor & Messick Night.   Aikin delivered a convincing win, leading all twenty-five laps to earn the $2,000 first place prize.   Aikin is URC's fourteenth different feature winner of the season.

Heat race events were won by Aikin, Andy Best and Robbie Stillwaggon.    Aikin and Best made-up the front row to start the feature event with Aikin jumping to the lead at the drop of the green flag.   On lap two, the first caution of the race was displayed for Chris Glanden who spun in turn two.   Glanden, a modified driver was making his first start in a URC sprint car.    On the restart, Aikin remained the leader followed by Andy Best and Robbie Stillwaggon.   Josh Weller driving the Palladino Motorsports #99 was running fourth with Kramer Williamson fifth.

As the field passed for the halfway sign, Aikin remained the leader with Stillwaggon second, Andy Best third, Josh Weller fourth and JJ Grasso fifth.  The caution flag was displayed on lap seventeen, this time for Kramer Williamson who had a solid run in the works.

On the restart, Aikin, Stillwaggon, Weller, Best and JJ Grasso made up the top five with Curt Michael on a charge to the front.    By lap twenty-one, Curt Michael was now in the top five.   One lap later, the final caution flag of the race was displayed, this time for Troy Betts who spun in turn four.

The restart set-up a three lap run to the checker flag and Aikin was up to the challenge with Stillwaggon and Weller in the chase.   With the white flag waiving, JJ Grasso moved into third and set-up a challenge on Stillwaggon.   Grasso ran short of tine and settled for third with Curt Michael passing Josh Weller to take the fourth spot as Weller finished fifth.
