DONALD LINGO, JR. ONE STEP CLOSER TO 4TH CHAMPIONSHIP

By his own admission, Donald Lingo, Jr. has had an up and down season. The defending Super Late Model point champion had won only two feature events prior to Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway however; the team’s perseverance has gotten them to the top of the standings. Lingo edged a little closer to defending his 2010 championship by posting his second win in the 20-lap main.

Donald Lingo, Jr. was able to get around last week’s winner, Mark Pettyjohn to lead the first lap. Mark Byram, looking for his first win charged into the second spot on lap two with Dale Lingo taking third three laps later.

A pair of back to back cautions on laps six and seven were the only two cautions of the event but would eliminate Hal Browning and Kerry King from the race and Dale Lingo from the top five.

Richard Jarvis, Jr. was looking to stay in the point chase and had climbed to third just before halfway. With three laps to go Jarvis was able to get by Byram but Donald Lingo, Jr. was long gone as time ran out.

“This has been a roller coaster year I think, said Lingo. “May we were 200 points back, probably more than 200 points back but we chipped away all season long and were probably 200 points out front. The last three weeks we tried to put in on a silver platter with cake and ice cream and give it away. I couldn’t believe the luck we were having. Hopefully this is the beginning of some better luck.

Jarvis finished in the second spot with Mark Byram third. Fourth went to Andrew Mullis and David Hill came from 15th to finish in fifth. Heats were won by Lingo, Jr. and Mark Pettyjohn.

RESULTS: Super Late Model Finish: 1. Donald Lingo Jr.; 2. Richard Jarvis Jr.; 3. Mark Byram; 4. Andrew Mullins; 5. David Hill; 6. Mark Pettyjohn; 7. Amanda Whaley; 8. Kenny Pettyjohn; 9.
