ELLIOTT GETS 11TH IN SUPER LATES

Elliott11Ricky Elliott had to bring out his backup car on Saturday night. It may have been better than his primary car as it carried him to his 11th win of the season in the Mar-Del Watermelon Association 20-lap Super Late Model feature.

David Hill started on the pole and led lap one but his lead would be shot lived as Ricky Elliott shot on top to lead lap two. Once out front Elliott was able to pull away from the field and Hill and Donald Lingo, Jr. battled for second. Lingo, Jr. took second on lap four but was not able to close on Elliott.

By the checkered flag, Elliott had built a five second lead over Lingo, Jr.  “We haven’t run this car in probably eight weeks, said Elliott. “We’ve been running that other car and have been struggling with it. We wrecked it last night at Georgetown so we had no choice but I’m glad we brought this car out.

Lingo, Jr. finished in second with Hill third. Nick Davis put on a good drive to finish in fourth and Amanda Whaley rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Whaley and Elliott.
