BILLY THOMPSON LEADS WIRE TO WIRE FOR 2ND CRATE MODEL VICTORY
Billy Thompson became the car to catch from the drop of the green in the 15-lap Crate Model main. Charles Shawver got around collecting point leader Matt Hill and Jason Dean who was making his first start in several seasons. Hill would duck into the pits and rejoin the field but looped the car trying to catch the field for his second yellow. Under the yellow, Zac Weller, who was riding in third headed to the pits for the night. Mike Wilson kept close tabs on Thompson as Steven Baker took over third.
Thompson remained smooth and error free in the second half as Wilson and Sparky White battled for the second spot. The field would be tightened for a final time with one to go when Brandon Sturgis, who was making his first start in the division came to a stop. Thompson held off Wilson on the final circuit to post his second win. Wilson was able to hold off White for second and third. Baker ended a solid run in fourth and Hill worked his way back through the field to finish in fifth. Heats were won by Thompson and Weller.
