"THE WILD CHILD" AMANDA WHALEY BECOMES 11 DIFFERENT WINNER IN LATE MODELS

The 20-lap feature for the S.R. Pete & Sons Late Models had the fans on their feet. Rob Schirmer started on the pole but it would be Amanda Whaley powering from the second starting spot to lead lap one. Kerry King quickly climbed into the second spot with Ricky Elliott pulling to third.

By lap nine, “the Wild Child had over a two second lead but the yellow would fly as Bob Geiger rolled to a stop. Whaley controlled the restart but the yellow was out for a second time two laps later when Nick Davis got around while battling for third.

Once again Whaley would distance herself from the field while King and Elliott battled for second. With five to go, Donald Lingo, Jr. driving the Herb Tunis No. 5 after engine problems developed on his car in the heat, got by Dylan Evan for fourth.

With two laps to go Schirmer rolled to a stop bringing out the final yellow. Elliott got by King on the restart but Whaley was not to be denied as she became the 11th different winner in the division this season. Rounding out the top five were Elliott, King, Lingo and Kevin Scott, Jr. Heats were won by Elliott and Whaley.DSC01086
