Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 3, 2020) – A first-time visit to Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway didn’t deter Alex Hill from posting her best finish of 2020.

Hill scored a sixth-place result with the Sprint Invaders on Thursday night when she made her debut at the oval.

“Our first time ever at Dubuque went really well,” she said. “It was kind of a different track with its banking and I enjoyed racing on it.”

Hill started and finished second in her heat race, placing her eighth on the starting grid for the night’s main event.

“We thought the faster line would be around the top and Daryl set up the car to run there,” she said. “But when the race started it turned out the bottom was faster and that was where I ran. I dropped back to ninth at first and then moved up to fifth later in the race before a guy got by me late. I was happy with the way our night went.”

Hill returned to competition at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday for her final tune-up prior to one of her biggest races of the year – the 360 Knoxville Nationals.

“Our night at Knoxville didn’t go as well,” she said. “We didn’t have our best motor for the second week in a row and that showed in qualifying again when we were 17th (out of 24 cars). That put us in a hole for the night, since then we had to start near the back of our heat race and run the B Main.”

Hill’s evening ended with an 18th-place finish in the B Main, but she will put that behind her in anticipation for this week’s 30th annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank. Her preliminary night is Friday prior to Saturday’s finale.

“I’m really looking forward to this year’s 360 Nationals, especially since we should have our best motor back,” she said. “When we raced with that motor earlier this year we qualified and raced well.”

Hill will then venture to Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on Sunday for the Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Co. with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
