Hahne Hangs on to take Victory in Dubuque

Anthony Ainslie (Dubuque, IA) -- Jason Hahne finished out the Memorial Day Weekend celebrating victory with Haulin’ with Hoker Trucking Super Late Models East Series after Sunday’s main event at Dubuque Speedway.
The high-banked 1/3 mile bullring at Dubuque, Iowa was the sight of round 7 for the Haulin’ with Hoker Trucking East Series and was the third and final stop for the tour on the Memorial Day weekend swing. A strong field of 31 cars made their way to Dubuque for a chance to take the final $3,000 top prize of the weekend.

National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Driver Jeff Aikey set the fastest time in qualifying when he turned in a 15.045 second lap. The night’s heat races were among some of the best the tour has seen so far this season. After battling on a very racy speedway, Luke Goedert, Jeff Tharp, Jason Rauen, and Matt Ryan were victorious in the heats. The two B features on the night were just as competitive as the heats and were won by Charlie McKenna and Jesse Glenz.
A 22-car field was assembled for Sunday’s 30-lap finale. Pole Sitter Jason Hahne took command on the opening circuit and proceeded to cruise around the low side of the racetrack while everyone else were scrambling and trying different lines to find grip.

A couple of debris cautions slowed the race down on laps 19 and 24. However, a caution came out on the final lap and set up a green-white-checkered dash to the finish. Hahne nailed his marks and held off the hard charge from Andrew Kosiski to score the big win to close out the weekend.

The win was Hahne’s second ever East Series win and snapped a 41-race losing straight since he first won with the tour at the 2021 Iowa Governor’s Cup at Davenport Speedway. Andrew Kosiski backed up his win the previous night at Maquoketa with a second-place finish while Points Leader Andy Eckrich came in third. Chad Holladay and Luke Goedert finished out the top five.

Both the Haulin’ with Hoker Trucking East Series and the Malvern Bank West Series are in action back-to-back nights in the upcoming weekend. On Friday, June 2nd, The East Series makes its annual stop to the C J Speedway in Columbus Junction, Iowa. The very next night, The Malvern Bank West Series is back on the road as the tour makes its first visit of the year to Corning, Iowa’s Adams County Speedway for the Ray Houck Memorial.
