Kent Robinson Pockets $10,000 Winner's Check in Farmer City 74

By Ben Shelton (Farmer City, IL) -- Call it sweet redemption for Kent Robinson. After seeing a Schaeffer’s Oil Mid America Racing Series (MARS) victory earlier this year stripped due to a post-race rules infraction, Kent Robinson proved on Friday night that his series win was no fluke.

The Indiana racer piloted his JB’s Disposal Services #7r MB Customs/ Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $10,000 MARS triumph in the Farmer City 74 at Farmer City Raceway.

“Any time you win is great, but when you’re racing for a cause or there’s a little bit more on your shoulders, it motivates me,” Robinson commented. “It’s what it did tonight and what’s it done since [the April 13 MARS disqualification].

“I try to delegate my time between all my activities, work and whatnot, and I’ve spent a little more time on my race car in the last couple of weeks. I hope it’s showing. We’ve picked up some speed. I can’t take all the credit, we’ve all put our heads together. But it just motivated me, and I think it’s been good.”

Kent Robinson invaded Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois) on Friday night for the Schaeffer’s Oil Mars Racing Series (MARS) sanctioned Farmer City 74. In a stout field of 52 cars, Kent secured his spot into the opening night feature with a heat race victory.

Earning the fourth-starting position for the A-Main, Robinson slipped past race-leader Hudson O’Neal on lap-35. He then battled past fuel line issues to hold off a hard-charging Allen Weisser in the final laps to capture his second win of the season and a $10,000 payday.

Weisser, Darrell Lanigan, Devin Moran, and Dennis Erb Jr. trailed him to the checkers.

Saturday's FALS Frenzy at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, IL) was rained out.

The upcoming weekend has the driver, known as K-Rob, set to enter a pair American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) events. On Saturday night he’ll compete at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana), where a $4,000 winner’s check is on the line. Sunday night takes the team to Gas City I-69 Speedway (Gas City, Indiana), where another $4,000 top prize is up grabs.
