VanderLey Suspension Lifted
D.J. VanderLey, suspended for the regular season after an altercation with another driver on April 27th, has had his eligibility to compete reinstated beginning with this Friday’s Coors Light 100 Blizzard Series event at 5 Flags Speedway. VanderLey has missed 2 races in The Blizzard Series at 5 Flags, and 2 races in the Miller Lite Series at Mobile, which in essence was a 4 race suspension in the Sunoco Gulf Coast Championship Series. “ Officials from both tracks re-opened discussions last week on the length of the suspension, stated 5 Flags GM Tim Bryant. “ Everyone agreed the severity of the infraction called for just punishment, and we feel like it was levied. We wanted to issue a statement to all drivers about controlling their emotions , and we hope we have done that. We have elected to let D.J. return to racing, under probation. We are confident he has learned from this series of events and fully expect him to exemplify the professionalism of which he is capable.
