Snowball Derby Best Appearing Car Contest Returns to Speed51.com

he Snowball Derby is known for its great racing, amazing atmosphere and deeply talented starting lineups. But another thing that the Snowball Derby has become known for recently are the special paint schemes that many teams unveil specifically for the biggest short track event of the year. This year, the Speed51.com Best Appearing Car Contest will return as we expect the 50th Annual Snowball Derby to be the best year yet for special designs.

The tradition began close to a decade ago with Johnny VanDoorn and his “ice design on his Super Late Model. Since then, the special designs have become as fun to see as the race itself.

In 2014, Ross Kenseth ran a car that nobody could ever forget. The car became known as the “Ugly Sweater car, as it was meant to look like many of the tacky holiday sweaters one would see on the racks at many retail stores.

Stephen Nasse ran a special “See you at the Derby scheme at the 49th Annual Snowball Derby with “Minions from “Despicable Me on the quarter panels of his No. 51 machine.

Brian Campbell is another driver that has historically run special designs at the Snowball Derby. One of his best was when he ran the “How the Grinch Stole the Snowball Derby scheme from 2012.

Anthony Cataldi, Donnie Wilson, Josh Bragg, Zane Smith and so many more have taken part in the yearly tradition in the Late Model ranks as well.

As a result of all of the special schemes seen at the Snowball Derby, Speed51.com will hold a “Best Appearing Car contest on our Five Star Race Car Bodies Facebook page. Race fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite car design for both the 50th Annual Snowball Derby and the Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100.

Business interested in becoming involved with the Snowball Derby Best Appearing Car Contest are encouraged to email bd51sports@gmail.com.

Race fans will be able to view all of the unique paint schemes during Speed51.com’s five-day, television-style broadcast of the 50th Annual Snowball Derby. Live video tickets can be purchased today by clicking here.
