Five Flags Speedway
Back to Back Pro Late 100 Lap Events This Weekend at 2 Tracks
Two of the premier local Pro Late Model classes are set to hit the track this weekend for a doubleheader. Many of the same drivers will be competing at both Five Flags Speedway for the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series on Friday, and at Montgomery Motor Speedway for the Show Me the Money Series on Saturday.
Friday night will be the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series opener at the Florida half-mile. Bubba Pollard won two of the four events one year ago, while Colby Howard and Kyle Plott also won Pro Late Model events at Five Flags. Jake Garcia won the series title last year after three third-place finishes and a ninth.
Friday night’s event will be the first time that Late Models will race at Five Flags in 2020, with a Blizzard Series (Super Late Model) doubleheader planned for June 26-27.
The south’s top Pro Late Model drivers will then head north to Montgomery Motor Speedway for the second race of the Show Me the Money Series. Jake Garcia won the biggest race of his young career in the Alabama 200 back in March to kick off the 2020 Show Me the Money season.
Augie Grill was the Show Me the Money Series champion in 2019 behind his Alabama 200 victory to start the season. Colby Howard won three of the five races in the Anthony Campi No. 81, while Casey Roderick also added what would be his final win with Ronnie Sanders.
Local divisions will also be on display at both events during the weekend. The Outlaw Stocks and Pure Stocks will join the card at Five Flags Speedway on Friday night, while Montgomery Motor Speedway will also see Street Stocks and Pro 4’s (Mod Minis) join the headlining Pro Late Models one night later. The Pro-4’s will have a 50-lap special on that night.
While no entry lists are available for either event, we could see several drivers pull double-duty and run both races this weekend. Drivers like Connor Okrzesik, Jake Garcia, Augie Grill, Dylan Fetcho, JoJo Wilkinson and Kyle Plott took part in several races at both facilities one year ago and could pull the double. Other competitors like John Bolen, Jason Furrow, Jarrett Parker, Cole Daffron and Justin South can also be seen at their respective home tracks to take on many of the south’s best Late Model racers.
