Guide for Drivers and Crew for this week for all Divisions

Things I need to know about the Snowball Derby if I am a:

  

Snowball Derby or Snowflake Car: •    The SBD Preview is an all day, open test for all divisions, and will be held on Saturday, November 20th, from 10am until 7pm.  A full staff of officials will be on hand, including tech, tires and fuel. Divisions will run in rotation. There will be Cash Bonuses ($300 PLM / $500 SLM) for the fastest recorded lap after 4pm at The Preview. There will be a $20 Transponder Fee to be eligible. 

 RACE WEEK

• Hauler staging in parking lot begins late Tuesday afternoon and continues until 8am Wednesday. At 9am rigs will be escorted into the infield. All haulers must remain closed (all doors) until the last rig is parked. Top 10 in Blizzard Series points and top 10 in Allen Turner Pro Late Model points will have opportunity to go thru tech line first. All other cars should be on jack stands for safety check. Tech Inspection Line closes at 5pm. Windshield decals will be installed upon completion of tech inspection. 

  

• Wednesday Night at 6pm in Victory Lane, the qualifying order drawdown will be conducted. Attendance is strongly recommended and appreciated, but not required. If your car is not represented a qualifying order draw will be done for you.

  

• Tires, F45 Hoosiers….practice tires may be purchased on Wednesday. Snowball qualifying tires will be selected in the order of qualifying on Thursday afternoon. Snowflake tires will be selected in the order of qualifying on Friday afternoon. Top 30 Snowball Qualifiers plus 2 provisional starters will select race tires on Saturday morning in order, beginning with fastest qualifier. Final 4 Snowball starters will select race tires at the conclusion of the last chance race on Saturday afternoon. See Hoosier tire station for exact times and procedures upon arrival.

  

• Snowball Derby qualifying is scheduled for 6pm Friday Night. Pre-Qualifying Tech begins at 3pm. Cars must go thru tech in designated groups determined by qualifying order, or be subject to penalty. Qualifying will consist of 1 dead lap and 2 timed laps. The fastest 30 qualifiers will be locked into the SBD field. There is 1 provisional starting position available to the top ten drivers in both the Blizzard Series and the Southern Super Series. There will be a 50 lap Qualifying race on Saturday in which the top 4 finishers will advance to the Snowball Derby.

  

• Snowflake qualifying follows the exact same format on Saturday with Pre-Qualifying tech scheduled for 11:30am and Qualifying scheduled for 2pm. The fastest 30 cars will be locked in to the field. All cars will be impounded after qualifying. There are 2 provisional starting spots available to the top 10 drivers in 5 Flags 2021 Pro Late Model points standings. 

 

• There will be either a 50 lap Qualifying race transferring 4 cars to the main event, or 2 ,25 lap qualifying races transferring 2 cars each to the main event. This will be determined by the total number of cars which take time trials.

  

• The Allen Turner Snowflake is a 100 Green Flag Lap, 4 tire, event.

  

• All Snowflake Haulers must exit infield on Saturday Night after race. You may park your rig at the Fairgrounds (1 mile south) if you so desire.

  

SUNDAY

  

• Snowball teams will be allowed to enter pits at 7am on Sunday. Pit stall selection by qualifying order. (pit stall selections must be made at conclusion of SATURDAY driver’s meeting) All haulers must be out of infield by 9am, or be subjected to penalty. Drivers/Spotters meeting will be at 9:30am.

  

• All cars must be thru inspection by 11:30 AM, or be subjected to penalty. Engines may be fired for warm-up at 1130am. Cars will be gridded at this point, all drivers should report to stage for class photo at 12:00pm.

 

Open Wheel Modified Team

 

• Best opportunity for practice will be at the Snowball Derby Preview, scheduled for November 20th, from 10am until 7pm. All divisions will practice in rotation. There will be a practice session on race day December 3rd , but unfortunately it is limited due to time constraints.

 

• There will be a $200 Cash Bonus for the fastest recorded lap after 4pm at The Preview on November 20th. There will be a $20 Transponder Fee to be eligible. 

 

• Entry Blanks are available at www.snowballderby.com.  There is a discount for early entries. There will be a registration trailer in the pits on November 20th from 12 noon until 4pm. Hauler Pass Decals will be required to enter pit area on race day and will be issued at time of entry. 

 

 

• Hauler Parking will be same as previous years. Rigs will be staged at Interstate Fairgrounds beginning on Thursday, December2nd beginning at 4pm. At the conclusion of the Thursday Night racing program, and as soon as parking lot has cleared, rigs will be escorted into the Speedway Parking lot for staging. Estimated time is 10:30pm. 

 

• Pits will open on Friday beginning at 8am. It is suggested that credentials (pit passes) be purchased earlier to avoid delays. Pit parking will be orchestrated by track officials. 

 

 

• TECH :  Technical Inspections will be available at SBD Preview. Race Day inspections will be required but can be expedited with Nov 20th clearance. 

 

• TIRES:  Race tires will be impounded and released just prior to qualifying. Practice tires may be purchased and mounted at SBD Preview, or at anytime Friday on race weekend. 

 

 

• Open Wheel Modified SBD is 75 Green Flag Laps. Standard FFS Race Procedures in effect.

 

• Haulers must be removed from Speedway grounds at conclusion of night’s race events. Rigs may be parked at Interstate Fairgrounds until departure. No parking of rigs in track parking lot allowed except as designated.

 

Pro Truck Team

 

• Best opportunity for practice will be at the Snowball Derby Preview, scheduled for November 20th, from 10am until 7pm. All divisions will practice in rotation. There will be a practice session on race day December 2, but unfortunately it is limited due to time constraints.

 

• There will be a $200 Cash Bonus for the fastest recorded lap after 4pm at The Preview on November 20th. There will be a $20 Transponder Fee to be eligible.

• TIRES: Race tires are F70 Hoosiers and will be available at track beginning on SBD Preview Day, Nov 20th. Absolutely no tire treating is allowed on any practice or race tires. Samples will be lab tested post race prior to payout.

 

 

• Pro Truck SBD is 50 Green Flag Laps. Standard FFS Race Procedures apply. Haulers must be removed from Speedway grounds at conclusion of night’s race events. Rigs may be parked at Interstate Fairgrounds until departure. No parking of rigs in track parking lot allowed except as designated.

 

Outlaw Team 

 

• Best opportunity for practice will be at the Snowball Derby Preview, scheduled for November 20th, from 10am until 7pm. All divisions will practice in rotation. There will be a practice session on race day December 4th, but unfortunately it is limited due to time constraints. 

 

• There will be a $200 Cash Bonus for fastest recorded lap after 4pm at The Preview on November 20th. There will be a $20 Transponder Fee to be eligible. 

 

• Entry Blanks are available at www.snowballderby.com.  There is a discount for early entries. There will be a registration trailer in the pits on November 20th from 12 noon until 4pm. Hauler Pass Decals will be required to enter pit area on race day and will be issued at time of entry.

At the conclusion of the Friday Night racing program, and as soon as parking lot has cleared, Outlaw rigs will be escorted into the Speedway parking area.  Estimated time is 10:30pm. 

 

• Pits will open on Saturday beginning at 8am. It is suggested that credentials (pit passes) be purchased earlier to avoid delays. Pit parking will be orchestrated by track officials.

 

 

• TECH:  Technical Inspections will be available at SBD Preview. Race Day inspections will be required but can be expedited with Nov 20th clearance. 

 

• TIRES:  Practice tires are F70 Hoosiers and will be available at track beginning on SBD Preview Day, Nov 20th. Race Tires must be purchased at track on Race Day and will be impounded, and released prior to qualifying.

 

 

• Outlaw SBD is 50 Green Flag Laps. Standard FFS Race Procedures apply. Haulers must be removed from Speedway grounds at conclusion of night’s race events. Rigs may be parked at Interstate Fairgrounds until departure. No parking of rigs in track parking lot allowed except as designated.

 

Sportsman Team 

 

• Best opportunity for practice will be at the Snowball Derby Preview, scheduled for November 20th, from 10am until 7pm. All divisions will practice in rotation. There will be a practice session on race day November 29th, but unfortunately it is limited due to time constraints.

 

• There will be a $200 Cash Bonus for the fastest recorded lap after 4pm at the Preview on November 20th. There is a $20 Transponder Fee to be eligible.

 

• Entry Blanks are available at www.snowballderby.com.  There is a discount for early entries. There will be a registration trailer in the pits on November 20th from 12 noon until 4pm. Hauler Pass Decals will be required to enter pit area on race day and will be issued at time of entry.

 

• Hauler Parking will be same as previous years. Rigs will be staged at Interstate Fairgrounds beginning on Wednesday, December 1st, beginning at 4pm. At the conclusion of the Wednesday Night Green Flag Party, and as soon as parking lot has cleared, SP rigs will be escorted into the Speedway parking area.  Estimated time is 10:30pm. 

 

• Pits will open on Thursday beginning at 8am. It is suggested that credentials (pit passes) be purchased earlier to avoid delays. Pit parking will be orchestrated by track officials.

 

• TECH:  Technical Inspections will be available at SBD Preview. Race Day inspections will be required but can be expedited with Nov 20th clearance.

 

• TIRES:  Race tires are 790 Hoosier and will be available at track beginning on SBD Preview Day, Nov 20th.  Absolutely no tire treating is allowed on any practice or race tires. Samples will be lab tested post race prior to payout. 

 

• Sportsman SBD is 50 Green Flag Laps. Standard FFS Race Procedures apply.

 

• Haulers must be removed from Speedway grounds at conclusion of night’s race events. Rigs may be parked at Interstate Fairgrounds until departure. No parking of rigs in track parking lot allowed except as designated.

 

Pure Stock Team   Best opportunity for practice will be at the Snowball Derby Preview, scheduled for November 20th, from 10am until 7pm. All divisions will practice in rotation. There will be a practice session on Race Day December 2^nd , but unfortunately it is limited due to time constraints.     There will be a $200 Bonus for the fastest lap recorded after 4pm at The Preview on November 20th. There is a $20 Transponder Fee to be eligible.

 

 Entry Blanks are available at www.snowballderby.com. There is a discount for early entries. There will be a registration trailer in the pits on November 20th, from 12noon until 4pm. Hauler Pass Decals are required to enter pit area on race day and will be issued at time of entry.

 

• Hauler Parking will be same as previous years. Rigs will be staged at Interstate Fairgrounds beginning on Wednesday, December 1st, beginning at 4pm. At the conclusion of the Wednesday Night Green Flag Party, and as soon as parking lot has cleared, PS rigs will be escorted into the Speedway parking area.  Estimated time is 10:30pm
