Five Flags Speedway
SRX Spot
PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 25, 2022) - The Road to the Snowball Derby begins April 8-9 with a Blizzard Series doubleheader at Five Flags Speedway. That weekend will now be even more enticing, with a chance to compete in the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) season opener on the line.
The PepperJack Kennels Twins take place April 8-9, a pair of 100-lap Super Late Model features to kick off the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series. The driver who posts the best average finish between those two races will earn a spot in the field when SRX visits the Pensacola, Florida facility on June 18.
“In all the years we've been involved in racing, I never remember a season starting with so much anticipation,” said Five Flags Speedway General Manager Tim Bryant. “The prestige of the PepperJack Twins is growing each year. While increased purses always help with competitor participation, the opportunity for a driver to earn a seat in the June 18th SRX event should take this year's entry list to new levels. Fans will be in for a real treat come April 8th and 9th.”
Both races will also pay $10,000 to the winner, which could make the weekend a lucrative one for Super Late Model competitors along with the chance to earn a spot in the SRX field.
Drivers confirmed for the SRX season opener at Five Flags Speedway include 2000 NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte, Daytona 500 winners Michael Waltrip and Ryan Newman, IndyCar Series champions Tony Kanaan and Ryan Hunter-Reay, Greg Biffle and Ernie Francis, Jr.
