Midwest Legends Dirt Series to Set the Standard for Dirt Legends Racing with $10,000 Point Fund

$10,000 Point Fund for Legends Group:

Wisconsin Legend Racing Dirt Series has ceased operations, but a new group will carry the torch in 2024.

Upon the disbanding of WLRDS, Mike Schmuhl of Beaver Dam, WI, stepped up to organize and be the first President of the new Midwest Legends Dirt Series. In doing so, he has installed a board of directors. This includes, Lance Fassbender as Vice President, Shelly Archerien as Secretary, Ann Ross as Treasurer.

Further staffing consists of, Dan Ard as the group’s Race Director and Tim Franz as the Public Relations Director. The first four are parents of drivers. Ard is a past Legend crew member and has served as an Assistant Race Director with WLRDS. Franz is a longtime competitor with WLRDS.

Adding to the excitement of the new entity, Griffin McGrath and his Legends.Direct company, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has entered the picture in an unprecedented way. “We are providing $10,000 toward a point fund for the Midwest Legends Dirt Series,” he announced.

McGrath continued, “It has been a personal goal of mine to create something like this for our loyal Midwest racers. We’re already scheduling events at premier facilities, during huge racing weekends. If you own a Legend car remotely close to the Midwest, you're going to want to race in this series. It is going to be unlike any other Legend series in the country.”

MLDS events will take place in Wisconsin and most adjoining states.
It is expected that the 15 to 20 cars brought to a track on any given weekend by WLRDS will increase with the stout point fund and expansion of their territory.

The current plan is dues-paying racers and owners will make up the voting membership of the series. Of his work with MLDS, thus far, Schmuhl concluded, "I am very proud to take on the challenge to help develop and grow the Midwest Legends Dirt Series. Adding a board of directors will bring in input involvement from the racers to help continue to build this long in to the future. We are thrilled to get this season kicked off!"

Look for further details on membership and an announcement of the 2024 Midwest Legends Dirt Series schedule soon.
