Georgetown Speedway Practice Has Been Postponed To Tuesday Night, March 8 Due To Wet Conditions; Facility Work Continues

GEORGETOWN, DE - The first open practice session of the 2016 season at Georgetown Speedway has been postponed to Tuesday night, March 8. Wet conditions on the grounds led to the postponement after a final winter blast on Friday.

The Tuesday practice will have gates opening at 5 p.m. and on-track activities at 6:30 p.m. Practice will continue through 9:30 p.m. Pit admission remains $20 and grandstand admission is FREE.

Weve spent the better part of the off-season working to improve the facility and have the grounds manicured for the opener, including re-grading the parking lot roads and a tremendous amount of track prep, Georgetown promoter Brett Deyo said. The last thing we want to do is force the issue and undo all our effort. We will wait for it to dry out and give the local teams some track time Tuesday. It will also give us a bug night to work out any issues before the big weekend.

The Melvin L. Joseph Memorial will kick off the Northeast dirt Modified season on March 12, with an open practice the night before, Friday the 11th.

While practice has rescheduled, work is continuing on the facility and will progress through race day!
