Super Late Model Fans Have Been Waiting: ‘Clash for Cash Set for Friday, June 29 at Georgetown Speedway

GEORGETOWN, DE – Super Late Model fans across the Mid-Atlantic have been waiting for this one.

For the first time in 2018, the Super Late Models hit the clay at Georgetown Speedway on Friday, June 29. The ‘Clash for Cash offers a healthy $3,500 payday for 35 laps around the Sussex County half-mile oval. Drivers will receive $350 just to take the green flag.

The Super Late Model division has yet to compete on the progressive banking put into place during the off-season. Practice sessions have been positive, with side-by-side racing expected.

The ‘Clash for Cash is a series of races put together by the promotional teams at Georgetown, Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md., Winchester (Va.) Speedway, Bedford (Pa.) Speedway, Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway and Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Del.

Each race offers a lucrative pay structure and all tracks worked together to schedule without conflicting dates.

The top-five drivers at the end of the series in the standings with perfect attendance will receive point fund cash.

First State drivers will look to defend their home turf, led by Seafords Ricky Elliott who won the Mid-Atlantic Championship at Georgetown last October. Elliott is now driving the No. 85 backed by Jake Marine. Amanda Whaley is red-hot and brings momentum to Georgetown after sweeping the Camp Barnes Benefit Super Late and RUSH Crate Late Model events at Delaware International Speedway in Delmar on June 19.

Hometown driver Ross Robinson will be in attendance. Robinson has a RUSH-sanctioned win at the speedway already this season.

A host of other Delaware talents will be ready to keep the money in their home state.

A stout local field is expected to challenge invaders from across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge chasing the ‘Clash for Cash top prize led by Dale Hollidge in the potent Gunters Honey No. 0.

Joining the Super Late Models on the docket are the RUSH Late Models paying $1,000 to the winner for 20 laps, plus features-only for Delaware Super Trucks, Delmarva Chargers, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars and Little Lincolns.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:45 p.m. Race time is 7:30 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16. Kids ages 9-12 pay $10. Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $35 for ages 13 and up. Kids ages 6-12 pay $10. Children 5 and under pay $2.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
