Larry Wight Looks For Redemption This Weekend at Georgetown Speedways Mid-Atlantic Championship

GEORGETOWN,
DE – After an inspiring
drive last Thursday at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y., Larry
Wight is looking for redemption this weekend at Georgetown Speedway.

The driver
known as ‘Lightning Larry sliced through the field at Orange County in the ‘Hard
Clay Finale crossing the line second behind Stewart Friesen after starting 26th
– yes, outside Row No. 13 – in the 50-lap event.

Unfortunately
for Wight, the car came up light on the scales and he relinquished the $5,400
second-place payday.

This Friday and Saturday (November 1 & 2) at Georgetown Speedway, Wight again teams up with Delaware-based car owner Gary Simpson to pilot the No. 12K for the Mid-Atlantic Championship, featuring the final round of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Velocita-USA South Region presented by Sunglass Central and Design for Vision.

The Phoenix,
N.Y., native will be among the contenders in the 40-lap big-block/small-block
Modified event offering as much as $7,000 to win thanks to the “Roll the Dice
Challengeâ sponsored by Stockley Materials.

“We will be
back together this weekend,â Simpson said of his Wight. “If all goes well this
year, wed like to do more racing together with the Short Track Super Series in
2020.â

Wight will
make his first visit to Georgetown since a 2008 DIRTcar-sanctioned event at the
historic half-mile track.

Ten divisions
of race cars will hit the progressively banked Georgetown oval for the event, with
racing planned for both Friday and Saturday with $80,440 in purse money
available to competitors.

On Friday
night, Small-Block Modifieds (max. 370 cubic inches) headline the program with
a 30-lap main offering a minimum of $3,000 to win. Should a driver post a $50
“Gamblers Feeâ that number will increase to $4,000. A $100 “Gamblers Feeâ
will result in a $5,000 top prize. Fridays “Gamblers Feeâ program is
presented by Stockley Tavern.

RUSH Late
Models will compete in a 20-lap race offering $1,000 to the winner.

Also on the
Nov, 1 docket are the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS)
Fueled By Sunoco Modified and Sunoco Super Late Model heat races plus 12-lap
features for the Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.

Saturdays
program features last-chance qualifiers and 40-lap main events for the STSS
Velocita-USA Modifieds and Sunoco Super Late Models. Each race pays $5,000 to
win and increases to $6,000 with a $50 “Gamblers Feeâ and $7,000 with a $100
“Gamblers Feeâ posted. JD Shuckers of Georgetown sponsors the Sunoco Super
Late Model “Gamblers Feeâ and Stockley Materials is the STSS Modified
presenting partner.

The STSS
Crate 602 Sportsman will race 20 laps for a $1,500 winners share, while the
Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series 305 Sprints make their first voyage to Georgetown
for the season in their championship event.

Saturdays
program will conclude with 12-lap mains for the Southern Delaware Vintage Stock
