Mark Your Calendars: USAC Sprints, Chesapeake Paving Modifieds Headline July 23 at Georgetown

Written by Chris Moore

GEORGETOWN, DE - Mark your calendars.

On Friday, July 23, Georgetown Speedway returns to the center stage with two headline divisions on the card.

The Rapid Tire Service USAC East Coast Sprint Cars make their first of two appearances in 2021 at the Sussex County oval. The Chesapeake Paving Modifieds join the wingless sprints for a fan-pleasing event.

This will be the fourth appearance for the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars, making three starts over the past two years at the progressively banked half-mile.

Three-time series champion Steven Drevicki won the inaugural USAC East Coast Sprint Car event at Georgetown in 2019. The current Modified point leader at the speedway - Ryan Watt - was the winner in July 2020 and Drevicki was a repeat victor in October.

The Chesapeake Paving Modifieds partake in their fourth race of the eight-race Sunoco championship chase in 2021. The 25-lap race pays a minimum of $3,000-to-win on the mid-summer night.

Boyertown, Pa.s Watt was the winner the last time the Modifieds took on Georgetown Speedway, picking up the $3,960 payday in the Deron Rust Memorial. The win vaulted Watt to the top of the Chesapeake Paving Modified points standings.

Watt leads Milford, Del.s H.J. Bunting and Neshanic Station, N.J.s Matt Stangle as the Georgetown season approaches the halfway point.

The First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models join the Modifieds and Sprint Cars in what will be a full night of racing. The 20-lap, $1,000-to-win affair will also be race No. 4 of the six-race Sunoco Race Fuels championship chase for the RUSH Late Models.

2020 defending champion Trevor Collins currently occupies the top spot in the First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models points chase.

The Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks, and Delmarva Chargers will also be on the card, all racing in 12-lap feature only events.

For the July 23 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are set to begin at 6:20 p.m. with racing following at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, $16 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids (ages 9-12) are $10 and Children 8 and under get in FREE.

Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children 5 and under.
