Inside Line Promotions – ABERDEEN, S.D. (July 17, 2018) – Scott Bogucki is excited to be back in Iowa, where the Australian’s home base is when he’s racing in the United States.
It’s been a rough couple of weeks in the Northwest and Great Plains competing with the Lucas Oil ASCS National tour presented by SawBlade.com. Not only has the racing taken its toll on the SawBlade.com backed team, but troubles with the tow rig have contributed to the frustration. In fact, Bogucki was even lucky to make it to Brown County Speedway on Monday when the rig broke down about four hours from the track.
“Davey (Heskin) came to the rescue and got us a truck,” he said. “It’s just been a rough couple of weeks from crashing the car to just missing setups to the toter. I’m glad to be heading home.”
Bogucki posted a ninth-place finish last Wednesday at Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyo., where he began the night with a heat race victory.
“We were just no good,” he said. “The car was really, really, really free and I started dragging the brakes and burned them up.”
After a troublesome road to the track on Monday, Bogucki placed third in a heat race before he finished seventh in the A Main.
“A few guys found the top early before the bottom took rubber and were able to pass a couple of cars,” he said. “Once the track took rubber on the bottom we all just got in line. But after the luck we’ve had I’ll take a seventh.”
The ASCS National Tour will be off this weekend before venturing to Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, on July 29. It’s the final race before the 28th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals Presented by Great Southern Bank at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, Aug. 2-4.
“We will probably run the 410 Knoxville Nationals (Aug. 8-11) as well and then we have the Front Row Challenge at Osky (Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Aug. 6) and the ASCS there on (Aug. 7),” Bogucki said. “We have a ton of racing in 10 days coming up.”
Bogucki will be busy the next two weeks building new cars and gearing up for that busy stretch of racing.
“We got two Maxims, one of which is brand new,” he said. “I’ve never had a brand new car before. It’s always been used equipment. We will use this coming weekend to get caught up and prepared.”
Bogucki, who is competing for the ASCS Rookie of the Year honors, is eighth in the championship standings.
