Anderson, Weaver, Lee, Roberson, Ebersole and Shoemaker Visit Victory Lane
HAGERSTOWN, MD. (April 16) - Andy Anderson from Bunker Hill West Virginia picked up his second win of the short season so far on Saturday by winning the Hoosier Tire Super Late Model feature that makes him a guaranteed starter in next weeks Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series Schetrompf Classic event paying $12,000 to win.
“This takes a little pressure off but the Lucas Oil guys are hard to beat,” Anderson said.
Anderson jumped out to a powerful lead from the start and lapped cars all the way up to the 11th placed position while having no pressure from the second place car of Kenny Moreland. Anderson also noted in victory lane that his team picked the right tire compound and right set-up for the feature.
In the Cochran Auctioneers Late Model Sportmans, Justin Weaver picked up the make-up feature win and Kyle Lee picked up the regular feature win. In the first feature, Weaver started fifth and advanced quickly to the front, never looking back.
Lee in the second feature dominated from the green flag. He started on the outside of the front row and took off like a rocket. The battle for third, fourth and fifth was amazing to watch. Rance Garlock, Rodney Walls, James Lichliter and Alan Sagi were running two, three and even four wide as they jockeyed for position but in the end it was Lee exiting his car in victory lane.
Logan Roberson from Waynesboro Virginia made it two for two as he picked up the in the MBA Crate Late Models. Roberson who won the opener started fourth and took his time getting into the runner up position pressuring Kris Eaton. Eaton held the lead early but Roberson was too strong. Mid-way through the feature Roberson made the winning pass and cruised to victory lane. As we conducted our victory lane interview with Roberson, Eaton showed outstanding sportsmanship and congratulated Roberson on his win.
Also winning the season opener, defending Pure Stock Champion Chris Ebersole had no problem finding victory lane again as he led every lap of the feature.
In the Mason Dixon Auto Auction Hobby Stocks, Shawn Shoemaker visited victory lane for the first time in 2016. Michael Warrenfeltz, Dylan Rutherford and Joe Rogers danced side by side for the first half of the feature.
Hagerstown Speedway will be back in action Saturday, April 23rd for the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series event paying $12,000 to win along with the Cochran Auctioneers Late Model Sportsmans and Pure Stocks. Pit gates open at 2pm, grandstand gates open at 4pm, warm-ups at 7pm with racing at 7:30pm.
