26 Promotions – Lake Havasu City, AZ – (November 1, 2018) – Dylan Cappello finished one spot short of his second Lucas Oil Modified Series victory of the season Saturday at Havasu 95 Speedway.

“Havasu has always been an Achilles heel for as long as I have been in this series,” said Cappello. “We have had many ups and downs at this track and have never seemed to gain a good handle on what needs to be done to win. With that being said, Dean and I talked about what teams that are successful there all have in common and this led us to set up a game plan of our own on how we could win.”

A strong practice session on Friday evening allowed Cappello and his team to mark off many of the things on their checklist and focus on Cappello’s driving style around the tricky quarter-mile oval.

“We showed a lot of speed on Friday night and Saturday morning and posted a solid third-place qualifying effort,” he said. “This was by far the best racecar we have had at this facility.”

Qualifying third would put Cappello into the Quick 6 Dash where he would finish sixth after dropping to the back of the field to run clean laps and setting the fastest in the six-lap event, but the Hitman’s focus was on ending the Lucas Oil Modified Series championship season in victory lane. With the fast qualifier pulling a three for the invert, Cappello would start the 100-lap feature event from the pole position.

“We settled into the lead and set a reasonable pace that gave us a solid lead until a caution came out. Another segment came and went as I began to pull away and began to save my tires once more,” he explained. “The last segment was crucial and having tires for the last 15-laps was our game plan. We saved and saved and with 15-laps to go the speed wasn’t there to finish off the race how we wanted. We came up two-laps short after lapped cars, and a typical short track move placed us into the second position.”

Cappello ends the championship part of the Lucas Oil Modified Series schedule third in points with one win, eight top-five, and nine top-ten finishes.

“I want to thank the whole RBK Racing team; Dean, Jim, Steve, Shawn, and Kenny for giving me a shot at the win and working their tails off on this racecar all year,” he said. “We had a great game plan in place, stuck with it all weekend and we executed extremely well. Sometimes it just isn’t meant to be, and that’s why they call it racing.”

Cappello closes out his 2018 season in Las Vegas with the Spillvak Triple Crown at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Hitman holds a slim advantage in the Spillvak Triple Crown standings and looks to take home the extra $1,000 on November 17th.

Dylan Cappello would like to thank Geico, SpillVak, Quick Response Garage Doors, Spray Nine, Driven Motorsports, Team RBK, Pro Power Racing Engines, Total Power Batteries, Roger Seymour Photography, and Bilstein Shocks for their continued support.
