Pevely, MO (August 9, 2003) Mark Oller picked one of the biggest wins of his career as he raced up through the field to win the $5,000 top prize at the "Race Night for Special Champions" at I-55 Raceway in the U.M.P. Late Model division. The special event was held to help benefit the Special Olympics and was presented by Shop N Save, Midwest Dairy Association, Prairie Farms, Nabisco and 92.3 WIL Radio. Oller started the event all the way back in the eleventh position, but he quickly worked his way to the front and was challenging Kevin Weaver for second place by lap six. Mark McClintock had a huge early lead erased when the first caution flew on lap eight. That setup and great three way battle for the lead between McClintock, Weaver and Oller. Oller moved past McClintock for the lead on lap eleven with Weaver following him past on the next lap. Oller and Weaver pulled away and made it a two car battle until the caution came out again on lap twenty-one. On the restart it was once again a two car battle for the win between Oller and Weaver. Oller held on to win by just over a car length over Weaver. McClintock held off Randy Korte to claim third. Dave Jumper rounded out the top five. Scott Weber out-dueled Tom Ratajczyk to pick up the victory and the $1,200 top prize in the U.M.P. Modified division. Weber raced around the top side of the track while Ratajczyk used the very bottom. Rich Whaley made it a three way race for the win at the very end but settled for third. Bobby Bittle worked his way from the twenty-first starting position to finish fourth while Brian Wolfmeier rounded out the top five. Ed Lowry started in the twentieth position in the AARA Sportsman feature and raced his way to victory lane. Lowry moved past Paul Bauman on lap twelve to take the lead and never looked back. Scott Stuppy, Bob Schmidt and Mike Nicholson rounded out the top five. U.M.P.
