Collins, Walsh, Naeger & Crump grab victories at I-55 Raceway!

Pevely, MO (June 13, 2009) Bryan Collins of Elsberry, MO claimed his first UMP Super Late Model victory of the 2009 racing season at I-55 Raceway. Collins started on the pole and led all twenty-five laps of the main event as he held off the challenges of Dave Jumper in the opening laps and then held off Ken Schrader in the closing laps to earn the victory. Billy Moyer, Jr. made it a three-way battle up front near the end as he battled with Schrader and Collins in the closing laps as well. Jeff Beyers charged through the field to a fourth place finishing after starting twenty-second because of mechanical problems that didn't allow to start his heat race. Dave Jumper rounded out the top five. Ray Walsh of St. Louis, MO made up for last week when he came up just short in a photo finish to finish second by taking the victory in the UMP Modified division. Walsh and Ricky Horton had almost an identical battle for the top spot that they had one week ago. However, this event was marred by multiple cautions and one red flag when James Reed flipped several times in turn two after colliding with Ken Rumble who had spun. But Walsh and Horton still had a great battle throughout most of the event. The checkered flag came just in time for Walsh as his engine began to go sour near the end and sounded terrible as he pulled into victory lane. Doug Wood would finish third behind Horton with Eric Mabery taking fourth and Mark Miner fifth. Troy Naeger stormed to victory in the UMP/AARA Sportsman division. Naeger led all fifteen laps of the main event. Danny Ems came home second with Brad Paquet third. Jason Keller took fourth and Jeff Herzog completed the top five. Jason Crump earned his first victory of the season in the UMP/AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Jeff Turned was second with Philip Stuart third and Brian Spalding fourth. Josh Range was fifth.
