POWRi National and West Midgets Eye Ironman Weekend

Belleville, IL – After a two-week lull, the POWRi Lucas Oil National and West Midget Leagues look towards the Ironman 55 weekend on Friday, August 3rd and Saturday, August 4th. Renewing their friendly rivalry from the Second Annual Thunder in the Valley at Valley Speedway, the National Midget League swept the weekend with Tucker Klaasmeyer and Jake Neuman taking victories.

One of the most technical tracks that the POWRi Lucas Oil National and West Midget Leagues visit, the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 produces some of the best racing fans see all year. With drivers rolling the bottom along the inside wall and others taking to the razor thin cushion up top, side-by-side action is prevalent at the high-banked 1/3rd mile always thrills. 2017 saw first time winner Kyle Schuett take the victory in night one, the Prelude to the Ironman, over Tyler Thomas and Zach Daum. Night two, the Ironman 55 was rained out.

With five wins to date, Tucker Klaasmeyer is narrowly in control of the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League point standings. Holding only a mere 30-point margin over Ryan Robinson, Klaasmeyer and Robinson are neck-in-neck for the top spot. Zach Daum rides in third, 890 points out of the lead and still winless to date in 2018 with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets. Logan Seavey with three wins to date throughout 2018 is in fourth, while leading candidate for POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League Rookie of the Year, Karter Sarff is in fifth. Jake Neuman sits in sixth with Joe B. Miller in seventh. Holly Shelton and Tanner Carrick hold eighth and ninth, respectively, while Kyle Schuett rounds out the top ten.

Currently leading the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League standings with a hefty 1010-point margin, Kory Schudy holds the top spot over Hank Davis. Wesley Smith sits in third, 70 points outside of Davis’s second. Hannah Adair holds fourth, while Cannon McIntosh sits in fifth. Hunter Fischer holds the sixth position, while Blake Edwards and A.J. Burns ride in seventh and eighth, respectively. Brendon Wiseley and Zach Daum round out the top ten.

Pit passes from the rained-out Saturday, August 5th 2017 race will only be honored on Friday, August 3rd. Friday, August 3rd is the rain date for the 2017 race. Saturday, August 5th, 2017 pit passes must be presented at the pit pass building to be honored for an exchange. For new teams on Friday, those that do not have their 2017 pit pass to present, and returning teams on Saturday, 2018 pit passes will be $30 for all midget drivers.
