Bradley Cox Grabs Silver At I-76 Speedway Following Tough Drive To The Track
FORT MORGAN, Colo. (September 21, 2024) Finally getting a chance to put laps on his Midget and find his way to the checkered flag without a major mechanical issue on the car, Bradley Cox wheeled to a runner-up performance at I-76 Speedway with the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association.
Making specific note of the car making the run to the checkered flag, the trip to the track was not so lucky as a ball joint on the team's Motorhome went south about halfway to the track.
Posting to his Facebook Page, Bradley stated, "We like to be early, so we left with plenty of time to spare. At about 12:30 p.m., halfway to the track, out in the country, my Grandpa's motorhome broke down. We lost a ball joint under the driver-side front tire. Thankfully, we had a road to get off the highway and assess the damage. That is where we meet some of the nicest, kindest people ever. Not only did Danny Siebert and his wife help my Grandpa's fix the motorhome to get it up the road to their house, they also loaned us their truck to haul our race trailer to the track, along with several of our racing families stopping to help us out, without all of you guys help I wouldn’t have been able to make it to the track."
Finally getting to the car to the track, a whirlwind run through the night saw Bradley make the dash from sixth to second. Again, going back to major mechanical issues, Bradley did have to deal with a lack of brakes.
"We roll out for that main, and a couple of laps in, I lost my brakes. It’s not that big of a deal during the race but when it comes to cautions or end of race that can get a little scary," stated Bradley.
"I like to use my brakes to set the car coming in so this caused me to do a little bit of a different driving style but I was determined to put this family into victory lane and missed that by one spot. I was beating myself up over this because we had the car to win, however I do know that victory will be ours in due time. Until then I will keep pressing on with determination, being grateful for everything I have."
