Jamestown Speedway
Back to School Night - Results & Recap
The Jamestown Speedway was back in action on Saturday, August 13th for Back to School Night presented by the University of Jamestown Football Team and Jimmie Booster Club. We have to thank our sponsors and supporters for donating backpacks and doing the 50/50 raffle for the race fans. The track was fast and the racing action was intense. We had some great battles throughout the field last night with several three and four-wide racing. The weather was beautiful, which kept the track fast and racy.
Overall, we had 100 cars in the pits to do battle.
Congratulations goes out to our feature winners and runner-ups:
Bombers/Pure Stocks - 16 Cars:
- Winner: Travis Edinger, Runner-Up: Joe Jacobson
- Hard Charger: Leann Christensen +7 (14th to 7th)
Travis Edinger was able to take the lead and had to hold off a hard-charging Joe Jacobson until a caution came out with about 7 laps to go. On the restart, Edinger pulled away and a great battle for second occurred between Jayden Michaelsohn and Joe Jacobson with Joe holding on for second at the line.
INEX Legends - 24 Cars:
- Winner: Drew Papke, Runner-Up: Alex Kukowski
- Hard Charger: Drew Papke +10 (11th to 1st)
A very good, clean race for the INEX legends. Alex Kukowski took over the lead early in the race from Collin Compson. Drew Papke and Donavin Wiest were coming through the field and Drew had the high line working. Drew reeled in Alex on the high side and made the pass for the win with 5 laps remaining. Alex got the low groove working and was side by side with Drew at the white flag and Drew beat Alex through the final set of turns to pick up his 100th Career Win in the INEX Legends! Great runs to Ryan Erdahl with a top 5, Scott Richardson moving up 9 spots to finish 7th, Ashton Wendland in his second race in Jamestown with 8th, and Dayton Olheiser in 9th.
Wissota Midwest Modifieds - 24 Cars:
- Winner: Rusty Kollman, Runner-Up: Josh Ganser
- Hard Charger: Brennon Weight +6 (10th to 4th)
This was a fast and quick race. The Wissota Midwest Modifieds went caution free and ran all 20 laps in about 5 and a half minutes. The race had a lot of great battles as drivers were side by side battling for position on the fast, tacky track. Rusty Kollman had to hold off Josh Ganser through lap traffic with Cole Neset having a great run with a 3rd place finish, Brennon Weight working his way forward to finish 4th, and Jaren Wibstad in 5th. Only 4 points separates Jaren Wibstad and Zach Reinke in the point standings as we enter the final two point races.
Wissota Street Stocks - 17 Cars:
- Winner: Kyle Anderson, Runner-Up: Billie Christ
- Hard Charger: Billie Christ +6 (8th to 2nd)
Jaden Christ started 4th and made the pass for the lead early in the race. Kyle Anderson worked his way through the field and was ride behind Jaden Christ on the high side of the Speedway. Jaden got a little too high through Turn 2 and got off the track allowing Kyle to race to his second win in a row at Jamestown.
A great battle occurred for second between Billie Christ, Brian Hanson Jr, Geoff Hellman, Jaden Christ, and Rory Opp. Billie was able to work the low groove past the rest of the drivers to finish second.
IMCA Modifieds - 14 Cars:
- Winner: Eric Edwards, Runner-Up: John Nord
- Hard Charger: John Nord +7 (9th to 2nd) & Darren Pfau +7 (12th to 5th)
Jordan Sours took the lead early in the race until Eric Edwards worked past him on the high side on lap 5. Jordan ended up spinning in turns 1-2 on lap 5, which ended his great run at the front of the field. After the restart it was Scott Gartner and then, John Nord who took turns running in second until John Nord took over the spot for good with a few laps remaining. A great battle for third occurred between Scott Gartner on the top, Cody Peterson on the bottom, and Darren Pfau through the middle of the Speedway. Cody Peterson ended up third, Scott Gartner in fourth, and Darren Pfau in fifth with a great run. Eric Edwards went on to win his first Jamestown Speedway feature win of the season. Only 5 points separate Scott Gartner and John Nord going into the last two point races of the season.
Jr./Sr. Slingshots - 5 Cars:
- Winner: Gavin Edinger, Runner-Up: A.J. Matke
