Sweeney RUSH Racers To Receive $20,000 in Prizes During “RUSH Manufacturer’s Night” On Saturday
(August 1, 2017) Competitors in the three racing divisions sanctioned by Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Series at Jennerstown Speedway Complex will reap even more rewards of being aligned with the RUSH organization, this Saturday night, August 5. During the intermission between events, all race teams using RUSH approved GM Crate Engines will be entered into a sweepstakes drawing for over $20,000 in performance parts, race car components, and manufacturer gift certificates. Teams in the Martella’s Pharmacies Late Models, Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modifieds, and J&J Truck Equipment Street Stocks will all have a chance to win one of nearly 60 prizes, to be awarded by random draw, to racers in competition Saturday night.
The 2017 season is the inaugural year for the partnership between Jennerstown Speedway Complex and the Sweeney RUSH series. Thus, Saturday will be the first “Manufacturer’s Night” held at Jennerstown. The RUSH Series has conducted these nights each year for dirt track racing competitors, and in total for 2017, well in excess of $100,000 worth of prizes will be distributed to racers under the RUSH umbrella. In gameshow-like fashion, the drivers will appear in front of the fans, after the heat races are completed Saturday, and draw for prizes, in a pre-determined order (also by random draw earlier in the night). This gives spectators the chance to see the drivers up close, and share in the emotion of collecting valuable prizes, all contributed by sponsors of the RUSH Series.
“The relationship with RUSH has already provided many benefits to competitors and to Jennerstown’s racing program in this first year, and this ‘Manufacturer’s Night’ is just icing on the cake,” Promoter Mike Lysakowski summarized. “We are eager to continue the relationship with RUSH because of the smart, consistent rules package that governs our three divisions of RUSH racing. This $20,000 giveaway is added value to our competitors, and a great opportunity to display to the fans just how committed the RUSH organization is, to making racing stronger, for both dirt track and asphalt track race teams.”
The prizes include many certificates of $200 to $500 in value, and necessary racing components such as carburetors, brakes, suspension parts, steering wheels, and even tire and fuel vouchers. One lucky competitor will receive a complete body kit valued at nearly $3,000.
Saturday night, Jennerstown Speedway gates will open at 4pm with music, clowns, face painting, and all concession areas opening at the same time, including Racer’s Pub. At 6pm, Mountain Ridge ATV Park presents five-division racing, with a tribute to the late, Hall of Fame driver and car builder Bill Awtey. Jennerstown Speedway Complex will also salute all boy scouts and girl scouts with free admission. Then at intermission, the Sweeney RUSH giveaway will take place, prior to the start of Feature Races. North Star Equipment and Morocco Welding have increased purses to the drivers in the J&J Truck Equipment Street Stocks, and the Farmers Union Co-Op Chargers, in memory of Bill Awtey.
