Second Attempt At Jennerstown Speedway “Opening Night 2019” Saturday
(Jennerstown, PA) After extended rains forced cancellation of last week’s season opening race at Jennerstown Speedway Complex, the 2019 campaign will officially launch this Saturday, May 18th at 6pm. Tickets dated May 11, 2019 can be used for admission this Saturday, as sports fans eagerly await the return of high horsepower competition, for the first time since September
When gates open at 4pm this Saturday, fans will be treated to a complete racing program, with a first glimpse of rookie competitors, veterans with new machines, and several superstars with new paint schemes. “Opening Day 2019” seems long overdue, with much off-season hype about first-year race teams that could become contenders after just a few events. Three non-competitive “test and tune” practice days were completed, giving racers the chance to dial-in new equipment, and build stronger anticipation from the region’s racing enthusiasts.
Mother Nature dampened spirits last Saturday, when weather forecasts failed to correctly predict prolonged showers that prevented all on track activities. With a pit area full of race teams, and many, many, spectators in attendance, the race rained out. A portion of the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was completed, however, as the precipitation continued. Additionally, prize drawings were conducted, that awarded five lucky race fans with Garth Brooks concert tickets from marketing partner Y108. This Saturday, more Hall of Fame Inductees will be officially enshrined – marking the fourth attempt to do so – as the 2018 HoF Class Ceremony was rained out twice in 2018, and partially last week.
All five divisions of stock cars will be in action, Saturday: Martella's Pharmacies Late Models, Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modifieds, Tunstall Auto & Truck Repair Street Stocks, Farmers Union Co-Op Chargers, and Somerset Trust Company Fast 'n Furious 4-Cylinders. Preliminary heat races begin promptly at 6pm, and adult general admission tickets are just $10. Kids, ages twelve and under are admitted free. For more details, visit www.jennerstown.org.
