Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 10, 2014) – Brandon Hanks accomplished his mission during a pair of ASCS Midwest Region races in Nebraska last weekend.

Hanks earned his way into the feature redraw via solid performances in his heat race both nights before scoring a top 10 on Saturday at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction and on Sunday at Eagle Raceway for the Nebraska Cup.

“We accomplished our goals and I’m happy about that,” he said. “Being consistent like we are at all these new tracks, that’s what tickles us to death.”

The weekend started on Saturday when Hanks advanced from fourth to second place in his heat race at Junction Motor Speedway.

“Saturday night was a solid night,” he said. “We jumped to second and we were able to hold on to second the whole heat race. We were chasing down the leader, but it was single file and hard to pass.”

Hanks then pulled the No. 5 in the feature redraw to line up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“We missed it for the feature,” he said. “We were so loose. I couldn’t go anywhere. I tried high, low, middle. We were falling back in a hurry. I counted about halfway through the race and we were about 12th or 13th. I was trying to hang on.”

Then the track began to take rubber, which helped the handling on his sprint car.

“With about six laps to go that track started taking rubber and it woke my car up so quick,” he said. “We had two cautions back to back and both times a single car fell out. That put me up to about 10th or 11th for that final restart with about two laps to go. I went all the way up to sixth in one lap and was chasing down (Danny) Lasoski. If the track had taken rubber a few laps sooner I might have been talking about a win. Everyone else was pushing so bad. Mine was dead on.”

Hanks finished with a sixth-place result.

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Eagle Raceway, where Hanks captured his heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. He then pulled the No. 8 in the feature redraw to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“About halfway through the race we were running sixth or seventh,” he said. “I had just passed Lasoski and a lapped car hit me in the rear. It spun me so I had to restart at the back and we went from 16th up to seventh. I was happy we were able to sneak back into the top 10.”

Hanks rebounded from the spin to post a seventh-place finish, which marked his 15th top 10 of the season.

He will make his debut at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, this Friday and Saturday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour for the Port-A-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Championship.
